In an interview for Record Collector magazine, the British singer-songwriter explained that, amid the coronavirus pandemic grinding life to a standstill, including derailing his farewell tour, music-making has ranked low in his to-do list.

“I just don’t think this is a time for me to think about recording,” he said.

“I’m a dad and I love being a dad. I will get in the mood to record again – and I’ll get in the mood to write.

“But no one needs another Elton John record out at the moment.”

“I have no idea what the f**k I’m going to do next, and that feels great.”

John’s last studio album was 2016’s Wonderful Crazy Night, but he has dipped back in recent years with a few collaborations, including the aggressively gay duet with Lady Gaga for “Sine From Above” :what:

This man is extremely down-to-earth, but I believe a lot of people would've loved to hear new Elton John songs during quarantine. Some of them, for their last time.

Could an Elton John fan please tell me why you like him so much?

I don't get it, personally. I've never found him to have a particularly good voice

I like his songs, especially his older ones. "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is one of my favorite songs ever, but he has so many that I love (Benny & the Jets, Tiny Dancer, Candle in the Wind, Daniel, Your Song...) – I suppose it's due largely to the melody, not necessarily his voice or the lyrics (though his collaborator Bernie Taupin writes some brilliant lyrics). I'm less into the generic pop songs he made in the 1980s, though I do love his hits from The Lion King. I also appreciate his style of performance – not just the costumes, but how he throws himself into the performances.

Why do you love Gaga ? A lot of people would not understand that either. Not all music is for everyone.
