Sometimes I wonder who signs off on singles for certain artists. I mean, show me anyone from any age group that you see blasting this and singing along?

It’s cute but works more like a theme song for a documentary special, or an interlude somewhere, but “let me re let me re introduce myself” won’t go anywhere on the charts or in people’s memories.

This sounds and feels like classic Gwen. Love it!

Not everything needs to sound like an earworm pop song to be deemed great. I hope this is a tease for more music with a similar sound and feel.

I agree with this. I think people on this site are so programmed to believe that a song can only be good if it is pop-radio friendly and an earworm... this is boring.

Gwen can do many genres as we've seen over the years, but her voice works best when it is working with something authentic to her, in this case ska and reggae. I personally like it. Without the lyrics, I would've thought this was an unreleased No Doubt song.

third listen and it's very nice : we don't have a lot of ska/pop. She sounds fresh and cool. And the song makes me wanna dress up a bit more and feel myself again. 

fourth : ok issa bop. It's pure skapop and also super polished because it's super rich too. Simply what we call a grower.

YUPP Hope more people will give it another chance, because it definitely gets better every listen

Am I the only one who likes the song sonically? I understand why the lyrics are turn-off ish to many but it's sonically catchy. I hope no one is just disliking it because of their expectation for it to enter the charts.

I hope too, though I think it's for sure not for everybody. This song has something really intimate, as if it was for the fans, and maybe she received some critics too and she wanna address them (it seems).. I think this song is super cute, but it doesn't have that 'newcomer greedy grit'*to it, so if you're not a fan i can understand that you think it's a skip. 

But if you're not a fan I also recommend you to check out some No Doubt stuff. (I just realised that if you consider No Doubt, the song is also tinted with a bit of nostalgia).

Her work with No Doubt is essential! They have a very specific style which I can imagine is not for everyone, but they made so many classics. This song definitly have me No Doubt ska vibes mixed with current Gwen.

I also don't mind the lyrics at all since it's Gwen. I love Gwen for being quirky and having lyrics like "this shit is bananas" and "I've been acting like sour milk all over the floor" It's very her and I can't wait to hear what direction this new album will go!

I came outta semi-retirememt/Protest JUST to respond to this. She had a darker album planned, and when she turned it into her record label over, they told her nobody wanted to hear that, and they made her do the whole album over. She said this in a few interviews when she was promoting TIWTTFL.

I loved No Doubt back in the day even more than solo Gwen, so I'm happy to see this return to her roots. The lyrics aren't the best, but the melody is catchy, and I really like the song from a sonic perspective.
