Thomas P 18,479
The NYT lists are interesting, because they always represent different perspectives from three very different critics (three of my favourite people to listen to on the Popcast), so they feel very important to those respective critics which I love. Pitchfork's list this year served taste, far more than it has in a while. They picked the 2 best Phoebe Bridger and Fiona Apple songs as well. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

I’m glad she’s moving in the right direction then. Here’s to LG7 being even more critically acclaimed
metalguru 1,549
Wow I don't want to discredit Rain On Me that song gives me joy and energy but same sources completely ignored Marry the Night, ARTPOP, Gypsy.... You name it. It is sort of strange to me to see her getting all the acclaim with Chromatica.

Pop music used to be poison to these critics, but since about 2014, they’ve been lightening up a bit about it. I’ve noticed a significant amount of commercial releases being included on these lists ever since Beyoncé’s self-titled album tbh. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. Not only that, but critics are also more open-minded towards pop music which is also a factor.
