Grimes' manager says Grimes didn't apply and didn't receive 90K from Factor

I don't remember when she made fun of global warming  but as i believe you, I think it might have been her weird and cynical sense of humour. Also, that's the core of Miss Anthropocene : putting things through a villain's perspective to hopefully make her message be heard in a different way... So if all that happened during the last era, it might have been an attempt to be on character (?)...

u guys really expect me to defend someone who made fun of global warming (then said it was irony when people got mad), named a BABY as if he is a robot, dates a billionaire who says a lot of bullshit while pretending nothing is happening (because she probably agrees. she even removed “anti capitalist” from her twitter bio after they started dating), proudly said that she needs drugs to make music and it’s clearly high on every single interview? She used to be my favorite artist, but now she’s all about the bling and not the music.
Actually there is a big list of problematic stuff she did/said during this era but that’s all I can remember.

Half of these aren't even real reasons but go off I guess.

And one of those reasons being that she isn't ashamed of admitting to taking drugs, why should she be?

Wait...I don't get what the manager is saying. The non-profits doc has Grimes/Crystal Math due to get $90k ...So who is lying, the manager or FACTORS and why?

agreed to most of this tbh. It's really sad how she went from a genuine anti-capitalist person to dating that disgusting person and not even speaking up against any of his **** actions. The blame is fully on her for her actions (or lack thereof in this case).

It’s makes ZERO SENSE to be anti-capitalist if you wish to make music for a living, because YOU'RE CREATING A PRODUCT FOR OTHERS TO CONSUME. It’s as ironic as Vivienne Westwood being anti-consumerist despite being a fashion designer—you can’t have it both ways. Make it make sense.

In that case no one should be anti-capitalist because we are all contributing to the system, one way or another. This argument makes no sense because yeah I'm anti-capitalist through and through but at the end of the day the system is a reality that I cannot escape and living under it needs forces me to adapt while still opposing it. This whole "you have an iphone yet dare speak against consumerism" is such a nonsensical rhetoric.

The capitalism part and dating a billionaire sucks and I hate it

But cmon...

Y'all saw one poster saying "global warming is good" and got mad at it immediately

Like... it's art :derpga:

It was supposed to make people think about it, not make fun of it

And that's the whole point of this album

Make climate change into a villain to make people more interested in it and start a conversation

Chill out

Exactly, I get global warming is as ‘black and white’ you can get about an issue but so many people have so much apathy or just don’t bother to try and care about these issues, the ones she wanted to cover so decided to conceptualise it in a way that might get people intrigued and perhaps even scared.

I don’t think Grimes thinks global warming is something to joke about at all, but like a filmmaker or a writer might make something that is an analogy about what we’ve done to the planet, Grimes has done something similar. I just think the marketing campaign being lead by that statement can be very jarring and easy to misunderstand if you have no idea what the record is about. So I get and agree to an extent with people that it definitely doesn’t look good and she probably should have lead such a visible campaign with those words but at the same time, it’s part of a wider story that’s actually urging people to think more about global warming but idk

lmao. I let room for sensitive and tired people who didn't heard her talk about the record who could think it's some postmodern nihilism and thus conclude that the lady is fried like birds of paradise idk.

I generally believe in practicing what you preach, in what ever way you can. An iPhone isn’t a necessity, though a computer, a mobile phone, and internet definitely is. If you’re anti-consumerist, get a desk top computer, ethernet, and a flip phone. Don’t wear expensive clothes. Buy ONLY what you need, not what you want. Live a life as consistent with your beliefs as possible.

:lmao: imagine having the energy to make mental note of every little thing some artist does and list them off in essays whenever they're brought up. where do you get this kind of free time?

hm..because she said herself that young people come to her shows and ask her what she used to produce because they’re interested?? she’s basically romanticizing addiction. my name is dark for example is clearly about speed
