JRCF29 8,168
Yes, VMA performance was (tr)iconic, and yes the 911 Music Video was a CONCEPT (a very detailed one), and yes, she has some movie roles coming up, but what I think is frustrating some people (I'm not saying I am or am not one of them, just an observation) is that apart from the one performance at the Video Music Awards, as artistic and well-constructed as it may have been, and aside from dropping the 911 MV and then not pushing it to U.S radio- at least not that I am aware of- she doesn't seem to have interest in promoting the era. Now, we should remember that Gaga has never really cared about industry awards like some artists and management teams do, but even so I'll use Dua Lipa as an example. FN came out in March, and Dua has been nonstop plugging and promoting it since; even without the payola scandal on radio, she released a remix album, has performed at several award shows, just did a live concert special with tickets on the cheap, and FN is still very fresh in everybody's mind. Gaga, on the other hand, has performed a song(s) from Chromatica one (1) time. She did not push a third single heavily to radio. Her social media is not era-centric. There has been no remix album, no Haus Labs Babylon, no companion EP, no television appearances. And of those two, only the former got six nominations. Now it would be perfectly legitimate to point out that at this point in her career, after releasing her sixth studio album and collecting four Hot 100 #1s along the way, as well as amassing dozens of gold and platinum certifications, selling out arenas and stadiums all over the world on five world tours (plus a sixth theater show with Tony Bennett), earning critical acclaim for her American Horror Story role, earning critical acclaim for the box-office titan ASIB, being widely recognized as one of the pioneers of modern pop and having near-universal name recognition, Gaga doesn't need to do everything that Dua Lipa, who is in her second album cycle, who has yet to have an album debut at #1, who has not sold out stadiums all over the world, who does not have four Hot 100 #1s, who has no acting career to speak of, and is not really known for her sense of fashion, her makeup, etc. does to succeed in the industry. But, so long as the criticism leveled at Gaga is respectful, rooted in reality, and not a cover for just attacking her, I think it's fine. I for one am happy to have Chromatica, and very happy to have the 911 visual. I look forward to seeing Gaga in 2021 at TCB, and I'm sure that her acting career will land her praise and acclaim in the near future. It's true but the era could be on a break so maybe gaga plans to do a lot for it yet ends filming the movie with brad etc before. 13 minutes ago, JRCF29 said: tbf, I think that Red's post was directed more at Bobby than at you Could be that as well lmao! I was on this site during her ARTPOP hiatus and a lot of fans never came back. I am still here because of her talent, however her attitude and her desire to keep people who work for her that cannot help her roll out a normal era but are just her friends is beyond me at this point.. If I were sabotaged by people in my team who tried to wreck my career and took advantage of my frail mental health I would also want only close friends in my team but ok. Pharamon 6,839
The real question is... what do YOU want Gaga to become or be? She will never be the biggest star on this planet again...thats a fact...so she stopped chasing that and ever since she's happier.
numb the flame 7,319
The whole era since 2018 when Gaga herself, BloodPop and everyone involved in Chromatica was constantly teasing was built up to be this massive rollout. Bobby said the era took eighteen months to plan which it very well could have taken eighteen months to plan. While I understand rona ruined Gaga's plans for Chromatica, rona also ruined everyone else's plans too yet somehow everyone else has appeared to have adapted to the current situation. I understand that Gaga has made her legacy and she doesn't need every single gig possible but if they had planned such a huge rollout for the album then why has the water appeared to have dried up? Gaga focused on BLM, rona, she then resumed the era briefly in August to film the 911 short film and perform at the VMA's. Then the U.S elections came around which she heavily promoted which I supported her. We all know The Chromatica Ball won't happen next year, they won't have every single person in the world vaccinated in time as people will travel from all over the world to see one or more of these six gigs. I do think Gaga should maybe communicate with us or get Bobby to release a statement as to what's going on with the era as, from an outside perspective, nothing appears to be happening. They could release those tracks they did with SOPHIE or release early demos such as the Free Woman demo or release alternate versions such as Babylon HL version. A reissue of the album that is reasonably priced and contains new content is a win - win situation in that Interscope gets more money off of Chromatica and we get new content that we've wanted for six months. Regarding Gaga's posts on social media, I understand she contractually has to post about Haus Labs, Voce Viva or the Tudor watch campaign however when those contractual posts are the only time we hear off of Gaga it doesn't look good on her part when she keeps going silent. Communicate with us, the fans, and I think we'd all be a lot less frustrated when we see a new eyeliner for sale. We don't know 1000% that Gaga does have those movie roles so it appears that she isn't doing anything for the album and she's just sat at home eating pasta which I think we all would like to think she isn't but again as there is no communication besides contractual posts we wouldn't know if she is in fact just sat at home eating pasta or if she's busy reading scripts and planning new music content. Surely she can find a competent choreographer, hair & make up artist and manager who can roll out an era not just able to book gigs for her. She has the same people for so long and 90% of them do not know how things work in 2020 and are stuck in the past. Whoever does not evolve needs replacing. She's just too nice or just wants yes men to manage and assist her till she retires. Either one is not good for her career and it is sad because she is super talented.
