That’s weird... we’ll let you be successful but not TOO successful it seems. Perhaps this ties into SB performers usually not being on an album cycle? Idk.. garbage regardless

I don’t really know what to make of this cuz Gaga performed at the 2017 grammys a week after headlining the halftime show.

but then again she didn’t have any material out that year

this. right here. however difference is she released Joanne 4 months before that week, “After Hours” has been out for 8 months, it will be 11 months in Feb. AH does have more hype and success than Joanne did though so obviously he’s going to get hounded which isn’t fair at all.

OP: doesnt make what they did excusable at all, Abel should be able to have his moment, playing the SB without having his well-deserved noms affected, he worked hard for those.

Gaga did the superbowl and the grammys the same year. I don't believe that was the reason.

And she also did the Superbowl, Oscars and Grammys in one month.

Well, Gaga's relationship with the Grammys is probably different than Abel's.

This plus she was essentially a feature. It was Metallica's performance.

True. But it still seems a load of bull that they would give an ultimatum like that considering Abel is one of the most successful male artists of the year with his album After Hours. It doesn't make sense, like surely if they had Abel at the grammys then the views would be great. And he absolutely deserves a nomination/win. There is no reason I could think of why he'd only be able to do one or the other

Well they just effed up, showing everyone publicly just how political these things can be. Now they totally diminished their awards

As an artist in high demand and in a depressing lackluster year, that practically only HE delivered fully in, he should get to do both and all opportunities to shine and display his talent, which people obviously champion.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

They keep coming up with lame excuses lol. Something happened behind the scenes and I hope we get to find out what it was.

Lol. She had just released joanne, 3 months prior.

But I guess it was not 2017 so it doesn’t count
