Tbh I’m surprised Fiona Apple didn’t get an AOTY nom. Chromatica wasn’t going to get it imo but I really thought fetch the bolt cutters would just based on the sheer incredible press it got.

It isn't  I wasn't even sure she was gonna get a pop vocal album nom.

It's problably for the best anyways, it's not like the discussion surrounding the big nominees is being positive.

She got 2 nominations, that’s more than good. The true injustice here was with The Weeknd.
I don’t think she’ll win anything, though. Leave that for C3C.

I agree. Her 2 noms are still very respectable for what the album is. Chromatica now has Grammy recognition. She may easily go home empty handed, and that’s okay because it was a competitive year. Gaga played it very safe with this album and did not make waves, and I’m sure that was intentional to a certain extent.

They clearly do like her tho, they make sure to give her at least one nom every time (sans ARTPOP). She didn’t even campaign while the biggest artist of the year got snubbed big time.

gotta be honest, I love Chromatica, but was it really the Album of the Year? Was ROM really the Song or Record of the Year?

I feel like if she had been nominated in those categories, and somehow won, people would be like, "What?"

She dropped a great album and I love it, but in a music chock full of big-name releases, I think the competition was just too stiff.

also, like, keep things in perspective. An artist with an objectively bigger hit, one of the biggest chart hits in history, didn't get any noms (The Weeknd). Katy Perry got nothing. Fiona Apple got nothing. we chillin

We've seen that the major nominees haven't done much promo, though. Who has in this pandemic? Taylor did basically nothing other than drop her album and gave us one music video and look at all the noms she got. The Weeknd also gave a lot of content and live performances and got nothing at all. So I don't think it's that, it's just that the critics weren't that keen. Just because the majority of Metacritic reviewers liked it doesn't mean Grammy voters will, it's not the same people voting.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the album, it's my least favourite from her. But yes, in this very bad year for albums, I do think it's the best of the year. I certainly think ROM was the best pop collab this year but not ROTY or SOTY, but I wasn't expecting her to win those anyway. And thing is, the competition wasn't big for pop this year, that's why I'm a bit stung that she couldn't have been nominated for more. Makes me wonder if things could've been different if Taylor hadn't made Folklore, if it would have opened up an extra nom or two.
