I don't think AOTY award is only about the quality of the album itself (which is subjective).. It's the overall experience and when you look from that perspective it becomes so much clearer which one's deserve it more than others. Say what you want but Future Nostalgia is one of the most cohesive albums released in the last 3 years at least and IMO deserves every second of it. I do think there are some undeserving nominations there but Future Nostalgia is not one of them for sure.

I don't particularly see its groundbreaking innovation that most AOTY nominations carry. I don't particularly care for TSwift either, but her reinvention with Folklore makes it impossible to say she's unworthy. Again this is just my opinion, Chromatica's production and vocal delivery are much less generic than the sounds we hear in FN, which I think can be traced to any trendy radio pop song from like 2010-2015. Burns, Bloodpop and Tchami actually studied dance music from the 80s and 90s, and you could hear sounds in Chromatica that are not usually found in pop music elsewhere. I can't say the same about showing the same level of diligence for FN.

I think it's an amazing record but we heard that kind of music from Taylor MANY times already.. Her 1989 record was the reinvention. Folklore is coming back to her roots. Talking about reinvention but not acknowledging Dua's reinvention and newly found confidence is just not it. I see your point and I see what you mean but I disagree. Aloe 1,199
People thinking chromatica is the superior album over FN I love both but clearly one resonated better with radio and streaming and also had stellar critical reception with great production. It's the first time Taylor ventured into pop, sure. But the sounds are not exactly innovative in such a way that made it revolutionary in 2015. Folklore blends pop and alternative nicely together, and I don't think this was seen in her earlier albums, which were heavily country. What's Dua's reinvention? Isn't she making pop music that sounds like what a female pop star in 2011 could've done as well? And "newly confidence" is a criterion to win a Grammy? I don't think so. Reinvention of an artist has nothing to do with the innovations in their music. Reinvention is changing someone's style, type of music, whole persona, etc...Taylor always blended pop and country even in her early "country" days tho. Dua's reinvention is her doing new stuff, performing differently, using different sound, etc.. it doesn't have to do with only her music.. I don't think u understand the meaning of reinvention.
