I can't help thinking that he got nominated to pad those pop categories out as there was a lack of major pop hits this year, especially in the collab category. He's never been a big nominee or winner so the fact he gets 4 nominations now when he got the worst received album of his career, critically and commercially, is highly unusual. I also find it very unappealing that he felt the need to speak out about the genres he got nominated in. He said he wasn't being ungrateful but that's totally the way it came across. I imagine the Grammys reaction to this was not unlike the famous line in A Few Good Men: "I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions in the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said thank you and be on your way!"

He has the potential to be like Drake who achieved multiple number 1.
 

Coming from his monster hits and successful era, he could’ve been bigger since his followers greatly increased from an already overwhelmingly big fan base.

he had one of the biggest songs in the past decade and one of the most popular artists in the world. Regardless of his reputation, he will always gain traction of attention and with the right material, he can turn it into a monster hit. So yes, Yucky destroyed that momentum for him.

He never left to have a comeback? He dropped several standalone singles from 2016-2019, and he’s already gotten billions of streams this year, just because you can’t stand to see him succeed doesn’t mean he’s flopping.

Can you please comprehend properly my previous replies? I did mention that he had one of the biggest song of the decade which I’m referring to Despacito. So obviously I’m aware of those standalone singles 

And by comeback, it should be obvious that I was referring to his new era (album launch). 

Secondly don’t put words into my mouth. I never mentioned nor loathed regarding his success. I even pointed out how popular he was in his previous era and with his smash hits. Additionally, I never mentioned flopping (which is funny because you are the one to mention it first), rather than that, I pointed that he underperformed  in comparison to his previous era which is pretty normal. What I was stressing out is that Yucky damaged his album launch since it received negative mostly negative feedback from the public. He could’ve a bigger and better early reception with a more respectable single.

The way you’re trying too hard to prove a point that’s not even there. You said his comeback, you can’t comeback when you’ve been in the public eye and music landscape nonstop for the past 12 years, it’s impossible for him to replicate Purpose’s success (3 songs with more than 1 billion streams), Yummy didn’t ruin his album campaign because it became a huge hit and was followed by Intentions, an even bigger hit. Just stop embarrassing yourself

I made a logical argument about how Yucky was poorly received which impacted his album release. He could’ve a bugger early reception. You are the one instigating whimsical arguments on me and i believe that’s more embarrassing. 
 

I made a concrete points on my argument. That his era will be much more well received if not for Yucky and the negative feedback it received. And Remember when I mentioned that he could’ve a better early reception if he released a more respectable single? Yeah I was referring to Intentions. But of course I wouldn’t expect you to think that far
