Is this the end of Red Velvet?:enigma:

Yeah... History repeated itself. Shelling out a new girl group a month after the previous one got into a national scandal seems to be the tradition now at SM Entertainment.

I don't know much about K-Pop yet but isn't it a bit weird that everything around this group is constructed in advance instead of it happening organically?

Yes, it's so manufactured up to the point I think it's a little bit try hard

That's what K-Pop is. 100% manufactured, 100% marketable images presented as artists when nearly every single group has 0 involvement with the music. Of course, there are exceptions, like BLACKPINK, who are actually talented. :ally:

:billie: Blackpink actually has very few writing credits to their name. While most smaller groups actually have more involvement in creating their music. Post this link again, since this fake news has been existed for years now:

You clearly don't know the background by saying something like this. YG, a notoriously greedy and power-hungry label, has denied them their own writing credits for years by passing them off as Teddy Park's. The girls are all capable of writing, recording, and producing without any external parties involved. :)

Biased much? You are discrediting other groups who are actually having their names on paper with black ink but Blackpink it’s exceptional. Hmm

This perception people on GGD have of Blackpink being this unique group needs to stop. They’re just another manufactured K Pop girl group, plain and simple. Their success is what has set them apart.

Nothing about K-pop is organic. Not saying that’s bad or anything. Just the undeniable nature of this industry.

:rip:

there are multiple kpop groups that actually have writing credits and choreography credits (BTS, SEVENTEEN, LOONA, etc.). And even if they don't know how to write and produce, there are plenty of idols that have amazing singing, dancing, and rapping talents. I think that being able to produce/write isn't a necessary criteria for being talented.

not discrediting blackpinks talent here btw

Yes and I agree with you. I said exceptions, plural, for a reason :poot:

Sorry you feel this way, but this isn't true at all. You should do your research before making such bold claims. All of the girls can write and produce. They have gone uncredited for years on their past work due to the terrible YG Entertainment and sexism in the Korean culture. The label has given a majority of the girls' credits to Teddy Park to make it seem like a man pioneered this girl-group purely for monetary appeal. They finally started receiving their credits on their debut album. However, this is a unique situation, but yes, almost all other K-Pop groups are manufactured robots following the "selling an image" formula.

I'd argue that the Idol system of South Korea is inorganic, but the Pop scene in South Korea doesn't just consist of people from the idol system. Matter of fact, South Korea as a whole has a huge affinity for folky singer-songwriter music, which often does better on domestic charts than the stuff that is known abroad.

hm what you talking about blackpink is the most fabricated one and one of that less contributes to their music.
