It's YOUR OPINION. Personally I like Chromatica more, but it's MY taste.

Kylie is around for 32 years and her fans are really devoted, We had a record to break. Not everything is about putting a number one song. Some artists work better at selling albums. Also Kylie didn't even had the tour bundle to help.

Kylie is over 50 now, she is a female, so she won't top the charts anymore, some radios even speak it out loud that they won't play her songs because of her age.

People fell in love with Kylie in the UK during the 80's with her role in the soap opera Neighbours, she went and became a pop star. She has over 50 singles and most of them went into the top40, and I dare to say most of them went into the 10, her only problem is ageism, her fans are still here, she performed in more countries than even Madonna, she has even an OBE.

No need for this type of comparison between Gaga and Kylie.

There’s no surprise in seeing Kylie doing well in the UK. It’s her one market. She won’t do these numbers except in the UK. In the US she might not even enter the Top20 with the album.

Gaga is global, while Kylie - for the sake of a better word - is local. Not meant to be shade or anything, but it’s the truth.

I'm so happy for her. :applause: She's a lifer in dance pop, and it's so awesome and gratifying to see a woman in her 50s be successful in the pop music industry (an industry that starts referring to women over thirty as "legacy acts"). A trailblazer.

Kudos to her definitely, but Cher did it before her and so did Madonna.

I feel like it's a bit different, though I commend them for being successful beyond what is supposed to be "peak years" of their twenties. Amazing women, great songs and careers, but Kylies music is just so "youthful" and full of sex and fun almost exclusively. Her music is something one used to expect only ingenues made. There's a certain maturity about both Cher and Madonna's music that can fit into Sophisticated Elder Stateswomen of Pop category IMO, whereas Kylie is continuing to make "Kylie Music" into her 50s without changing track because she's expected to do something else. I just haven't seen the likes until now, is what I'm saying. They are two different ways of going about their careers, both respectable.

And seeing this gives me hope for women in the future to be able to do their thing without the expectation that they have to be either "how do you do fellow kids?" and cozy up to like, whoever the Drake is of the future, or just flat out retire. To continue making the music that they want to make without people being like "that's just for the youths."

This is the music she's always made, and it's freaking cool to see that if a woman in her 50s wants to continue to make quality horny dance pop, she can, she will, and she'll be sucessful at it. Gives me hope for Gaga and others.

YAS, YAS, YAS, YAS, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, KWEEN!!

I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes.

post of the year tbh

and to @vixdean's point...yes, I agree! Cher, Madonna, & others have done it before at different times, but I think what makes this moment exciting is that Kylie is proving that they all can CONTINUE to do it, in the streaming age, moving forward. Same with Bruce Springsteen. Sure, haters can call it "fan service"; but these acts are NOT 'old hat" and NOT "poor investments".

Kylie is proving you can do YOU and slay, no matter how old/young/pop girl/whatever you are.

The thought that Light Years didn't get #1 is baffling...and the 90s album is a greatest hits? lol... Not even KM94?

The 90s weren’t exactly great for Kylie in terms of commercial success, plain and simple.
