It was most likely a PTSD attack due to the assault that she suffered from a few years prior. Lady Gaga did say herself that it did not start to heavily affect her until around 2012/2013.

if it was just how she was speaking, I would believe it... but paired with that look, no, I can't. It's a performance.

It's funny it seemed like the interviewer vibed with her because in the full episode (which BBC removed and I can't find online anymore) the interviewer was super shady and completely trashed her. She complained that Gaga's team was unprofessional and that they had to reschedule the interview several times last minute. The interviewer also said that Gaga was behaving erratic for attention and that she was a generic pop artist trying to seem edgy. Like she wouldn't say anything to Gaga's face but would add her commentary over the interview it was super cringe.

Her psyche and creativity seems to be so complex. I would imagine she always has a character in mind. Even when she appears "normal".

For example, the voting endorsements were quite Italian-New Yorker auntie lol.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

I think she was slept deprived and on heavy drugs. Or if it was an act and she was deep into the Abromovich method.

It was an act.

From interviewer in 2015:

I once interviewed Lady Gaga for the BBC’s Culture Show. During the filmed interview, she was deliberately glacial and distant (she stopped talking at one point and froze for over 30 seconds); immediately afterwards, she perked up and chatted like a warm human being. And a few minutes later she walked out to meet her fans: in bare feet, moving slowly, a single tear running down her cheeks. Gaga is a woman who understands that image is all.
