Pompeo: There WILL be a Trump second term

Do some people here not realize that the President elect has not even been officially declared yet? Serious question. I find it extremely hard to grasp (and I find it deeply concerning) how Americans allow its mass media to call the winner BEFORE the government does. So if Trump does indeed end up winning the election, the only delusional people will be those that blindly believed everything their TV box told them.

I had to wait in line to get essentials because of his inadequate COVID-19 response so he can wait in line to run for president again :ladyhaha:

How is it even a possibility Trump will win this election? Biden’s outvoted him buy a few hundred thousand in the states Trump needed to win to hold power. There’s no real evidence of voter fraud. Allegations of it were made only after Trumps campaign knew they would not be winning this election based on votes. The courts began dismissing lawsuits the moment Trump filed them.

That is, in my opinion, very very unlikely. The Supreme Court just made it very clear they are going to uphold the ACA (“Obamacare”) today; they are no Trump cronies. The worst I see them doing is dismissing PA votes which arrived after November 3rd (and, here, Biden still gets PA by a healthy margin).

We are not completely a banana republic, even though we have a president and a secretary of state who think we are. The courts are not going to invalidate 10,000 votes each in three different states (30,000 votes total); that’s that amount of voter suppression Trump would have to do to win this one.

The important thing is that this ends once the courts make it clear Biden won fair and square.

The SC ruled that Pennsylvania would be allowed to receive votes for up to 3 days after the election date, providing the ballot was posted before the deadline on Election Day. Do you think they’d go back on their ruling just weeks after they deemed it lawful? They’d look like an absolute joke if they did lol.

How is that worrying? A place where the government calls an election through their own channels is called a dictatorship. The media has every right to call the election if they base their arguments on good research and math. If they do not, they will lose viewers to networks who are deemed more credible. The current results  show that there is no feasible way for Trump to win, while based on historical records it's safe to say lawsuits won't change the election outcome (the margings are simply too big). This fact is not only stated by the media, but also by democratic and republican lawyers

People like you really distrust the media for the wrong reasons. The news these networks bring is not fake. Although their interpretation is subjective, the news in itself is objective. If there is a shooting Fox and CNN can interpret the event differently, but the shooting in itself is a fact. When the media calls the election based on basic math it's just a fact. Their interpretation on the other hand is subjective and could be contested. There is a reason Fox News reported the same results as CNN, although they probably didn't like the outcome. That's because they both played by the same rules

Networks calling elections on election night has been a long standing tradition. The only time they were (arguably) wrong was in 2000 — but that is because Bush won Florida by only about 300 votes, and Florida determined the election.

Here, we need an error of 10,000 votes in at least three states (30,000 votes total) for Trump to win. There has never been an election where the vote count has changed more than 1,000 votes in a given state after recount. Trump winning is simply a mathematical impossibility.

Also, there have been a number of false allegations of voter fraud online. Every single one has been shown to be false: That postal worker recanted their claim that election officials falsely put backdated postmarks on votes; Real Clear Politics never declared Pennsylvania for Biden; and election officials nationwide have found no evidence of fraud:  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/10/us/politics/voting-fraud.html

PLEASE READ THIS @PsychoMaxcara: Moderators have already let people know that spreading false claims of widespread election fraud is not permitted. The first offense will result in a permanent warning point; should one persist, the second offense will result in a ban.

For the sake of the future of our nation, please do not spread false stories of election fraud. What you’re seeing is a coup attempt, plain and simple. What you are seeing is someone attempting to use lies to make our nation no longer a Democracy. Trump wishes to stay in power and does not care about minor technical details like getting enough votes to win.

Sure, let’s have courts play this out; so far every single lawsuit claiming election fraud has been laughed out of court (because there is no credible evidence of election fraud, and courts require real evidence).

THIS ENDS WITH THE COURTS. Once the courts dismiss every single baseless lawsuit claiming election fraud, and once the electors vote Biden in as president, this nonsense ends. Because, otherwise, we are going to have a civil war, and a lot of innocent Americans are going to die, just as a lot of innocent Germans died after Hitler did away with elections and made himself dictator. I really don’t think Trump will concede, which will take the election to the courts-where it is very possible that Trump will emerge victorious. I don’t mean to scare y’all, but the election isn’t over.

Every single case alleging voter fraud has been laughed out of court.

You would need a lot of evidence to show fraud so widespread, the vote count is off by 10,000 in three separate states. Because that’s what it would take to change the election results.

What is going on in the courts is that there’s a distinct possibility that, when all is said and done, the Supreme Court will toss out PA ballots which arrived after election night. It doesn’t matter: Biden still clearly wins PA, even if those ballots were tossed, so the decision will not affect the final result.

The Supreme Court are not Trump’s cronies. They made this clear when they let us know during the arguments that they are going to preserve the ACA (“Obamacare”) in yesterday’s court hearing of California v. Texas.

For a case claiming widespread voting fraud to make it to the Supreme Court, it will have to actually advance that far; so far every single case has been laughed out of court, because, with courts, you need actual evidence, not baseless conspiracy theories.

What worries me is that Trump may not accept defeat after the courts rule against him, and try to enact a military coup or start a civil war.

There is no national "commission" or "department" for elections. Each state declares their results, and what the media does is tally up the votes and project a winner. Until congress certifies the results in January, there is nothing for the government to really declare.

Had this ever happened before? Where a president and their team refuse to take the L and just say “nah” at election results?
These people are so dumb, it’s scary. :saladga:

This has never happened before. The closest to this happening was when Abraham Lincoln was elected president; the Confederacy accepted the truth of Lincoln’s victory, but succeeded because they didn’t like the results. We know exactly how that ended up: We had a war and a lot of Americans died over the presidential results not being accepted.

Some quotes: “[This is] a completely manufactured controversy based on no evidence whatsoever, purely to maintain power, and to overturn a legitimate election.” ... “Trump’s refusal to acknowledge defeat is unprecedented.”

It's pretty clear to me Trump wants the Republican governors to ignore the popular vote and support him in the electoral college. People really miss the point when saying the courts will put an end to this. The goal isn't to get the courts to alter the election outcome, it's all about raising enough doubts and consequently support by his supporters to change the electoral college vote in december. Trump might be setting up the stage for a 'legal' coup attempt by delegitimizing the election outcome and declaring himself the winner.

This also explains his attempt to make the pentagon a loyal republican stronghold, since they would be anticipating civil unrest. People downplaying this possibility by saying Trump is an incapable reality star or 'he needs time to come to terms with the election outcome', are just underestimating him imo. This is a carefully planned strategy which was already set in motion before the elections.

I really hope I am wrong, but his actions are far from comforting atm

So we’re pretty much in uncharted territory. January can’t come fast enough. Donaldo will go down in infamy. We can only hope that when the time comes, he will step down peacefully and it doesn’t escalate into something worse. But knowing him, chances of a calm transition are pretty low. Scary stuff. 😕

With the exception of Maine and Nebraska (which determine electors by congressional district), each state determines who chooses the electors by who wins the popular vote in the state. This is not something the states legislatures can retroactively change after the fact: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/legislatures-override-electors/
