Supersonic 49,376
Arizona is officially blue. @Jill can finally sleep soundly.
caulixtla 2,170
As per discussion in Wikipedia on whether we can finally shade Arizona blue, the following haven’t called it yet: * https://abcnews.go.com/Elections/2020-us-presidential-election-results-live-map * https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/results/president * https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/results-president.html * https://graphics.reuters.com/USA-ELECTION/RESULTS-LIVE-US/jbyprxelqpe/index.html In order of calling, Fox News, then AP/NPR called it, followed shortly by Politico; Decision Desk HQ waited until today to call it. We will probably have this called and done by Friday; hopefully all four holdouts will call it tomorrow. Arizona is closer than Georgia; it’s the closest state Biden won. But, as for me, unless something drastic changes, I agree with Garrett Archer: I think it’s time to wrap things up. I will continue to make postings when any of the above four sources finally calls it for Arizona (but feel free to call it for me if I’m asleep or offline when it happens, thank you @Lion Heart for doing that with DDHQ), but there is no longer any need to do deep dives in to the math behind each vote drop. caulixtla 2,170
Nate Cohn says a lot of networks won’t make projections when the margin is under 0.5%. Since Arizona (and Georgia) are within those margins, we’re not going to see Arizona called with all of the networks. So, we know AZ is blue (@Jill, this is the last time I’ll ping you about how deep blue AZ is), but the margin is too close to make a projected call that it will be blue. Point being, a lot of the maps from networks and what not will not show AZ being blue, but it’s blue with a razor thin margin Trump will not overcome (it’s something like 84% of the vote needed to turn AZ red with the votes we have left, which isn’t about to happen). So, it won’t be called. My music: https://caulixtla.com/music

caulixtla 2,170
* CNN has called Arizona * NYTimes has called Arizona * ABC has called Arizona * Reuters has called Arizona After the last Maricopa drop, which increased Biden’s lead, Trump getting Arizona is almost a mathematical impossibility: Trump would need 99.9% of the remaining vote. It is done. Finally. EDIT (Friday the 13th update): It’s now a mathematical impossibility for it to even be a recount. +10,986 Biden, 6,662 votes left to count. +4,324 is the absolute best Trump can do, and he would need to be within 3,500 or so of Biden’s count before being able to call for a recount in AZ, because of the law there. caulixtla 2,170
Final update: After all of the votes got counted, Biden ended up having 10,377 more votes than Trump; he was able to keep his 10,000 vote lead. The final batches were in deep blue Apache county, which favored Biden over Trump. There are no more AZ votes left to count. There will be no recount; you need to have the election be within 0.1% (3,500 votes or so) or 200 votes to call for a recount in Arizona.
