TFM and BTW are... but there’s a reason why TFM got grammy awards and BTW didn’t, and TFM has the most iconing Gaga song not topped yet. Just saying

Most people here consider it a shade if we value TFM more than any of her recent projects. But that's not it.

TFM was a follow up to an extremely successful debut album. Most cases it's a hit or miss. If it was a miss it would have not propelled her to stardom and maybe her trajectory would be completely different. She proved that she is a shapeshifter, she brought back to life the concept albums, it cemented her aesthetics/fashion+music and made everyone nuts about her, she taught with class every other artist of this generation that camp can be mainstream and solidified that she is a force to be reckoned.

BTW success is contributed by the huge amount of success TFM was because literally everyone was expecting her next move back in 2011. ARTPOP, although a success on its own, was messy and polarized a lot of fans & GP. Joanne was moderately impactful and a beautiful piece of work, Chromatica is the victim of covid. If the album could unfold the way it was planned maybe it would be another redifining point in her career. But its impact in the midst of the pandemic is... Well...

 

So although subjective, the answer still stands. TFM is her best album in terms of solidifying Lady Gaga as a house name and as a part of her beautiful discography it really stands out on its own.

I think the fact that’s way too short compared to the others is a double edged sword here: there’s not enough room for “messy” moments but there’s also not enough room for many highlights. If you’re going to count individual tracks, BTW can easily top TFM because it has many extra tracks but TFM has way less “mistakes” than BTW as an example

Can you imagine?! Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated return to dance pop music, the alien imagery, the amounts of performances she was going to do. It makes me so sad but even thought the pandemics did hurt the era, it’s still so powerful because the music is GOOD on its own

My favourtie album is ARTPOP and Chromatica/BTW take the second spot. But I think TFM is Gaga’s most solidly built album from start to finish (maybe because there’s only 8 tracks).

I can honestly say I consider it the best electropop album ever released by a major pop artist (followed by albums like melodrama)

Being a Gaga fan, it's hard to be objective when it comes to judging her work, because I love everything she makes and I understand that all her works are different but special on their own way.

TFM is incredible, and maybe among the GP is the most iconic, but for us fans BTW means so f*cking much, and being a Little Monster during that era was incredible she was everywhere and her message was so inspiring in so many ways. Chromatica is incredible too, if it had had BTW promotion everyone would be calling it her best album, believe me, because it has so potential and is so dancey yet poetic at the same time. I think TFM, BTW and Chromatica are her best albums so far, BTW being my personal favourite and the one I consider to be the best.
