Though Biden also made several trips to Michigan, even with Obama, and Rashida Talib would've only gotten out the vote in her district since she's in the House, not Senate (not downplaying her efforts or popularity, to be clear, but it's not like the entire state could vote for her). I think a lot of Dems in Michigan helped get out the vote for Biden, including Governor Whitmer, who, until the Republican legislature got involved and took away her powers, had been doing an excellent job handling the pandemic. I think the tight Senate race between Gary Peters and John James also played a factor. What Abrams did that's so important is help 800,000 voters to register, which may have made the difference in flipping Georgia. Voter suppression is a huge problem, especially in areas with huge African American populations. Side note: Abrams also is a romance novelist! Keep in mind, it was only one or two generations ago (52 years) that Georgia voted for an openly racist third party candidate for president. The people I know in Georgia who remember that era say that things got so ugly with the racism that a lot of people just left the state to get away from all of the hatred there. Nevertheless, you are hearing Stacey Abrams' name bc she may be the single most reason that GA flipped blue for the first time since Clinton's first election in 1992. After she was disgracefully scammed out of her bid for governor( in one of the most renowned acts of voter suppression) she forgoed running for Senate this year to specifically fight voter suppression in GA (founded Fair Fight ) and registered around 800,000 people.
