March34th 1,973
The fact that this whole pandemic has affected so many living things, not just humans, makes it so much worse, and breaks my heart. The saddest part is the pandemic could have been easily prevented if we didn't capitalize off of breeding and holding animals hostage as cattle or utilizing them as tools. Those industries breed viruses like swine flu, bird flu, and coronavirus, all of which are zoonic viruses. While they could happen outside of those industries by accident (like a human coming into contact with an infected wild animal), places like farms make them so much more likely to happen. Your equivalency is very false. you do not need meat to survive. sorry its the same thing as the fur industry - it's humans putting their personal taste, be that their fashion, their tools, their visual aesthetic choices, or taste buds, over the lives of sentient creatures, and it's abhorrent that we do that in the 21st century when there are perfectly available alternatives everywhere in the world for all of these things. not just talking about faux fur or beyond burgers either. a shirt made of cotton, and some vegetables, there you go. They aren't culling them for their fur to make eyelashes So? They were going to be culled even if covid wasnt a thing? The point is that they were going to be murdered anyway. He was commenting on the reason why they were in cages to begin with so the article doesnt matter. We know why they are being killed NOW but we also know why they were in those cages to begin with which isnt right. His comment was off topic, get it? You have to be specific, RED meat isn't good for you long term but anything else is okey and even good for you. We also have to accept that this world will never be 100% peaceful towards animals or humans. If you cant afford to eat anything else then yes, meat should be an option until there's a substitute for it or until we normalize production of meat through stem cells. Viruses grow if the meat isnt taken well care of, just like you should handle chicken so you wont get sick.
ShayCristoforo 10,607
Humans bestowing this virus on the minks, then culling the minks for carrying it. Sometimes I think we deserve our misfortunes. smh Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.
imnotyourbabe10 6,120
We’re at a stage in our evolution where humans don’t need to be killing animals to survive—for food, clothing, etc—it’s sick we keep doing it.

First of all, you were talking to a vegetarian. Second, as much as I'd like to see a cruelty free world... It. is. never. going. to. happen. Because people are selfish and simply do not care. People do not care about the basic human rights of their fellow men and women, about the suffering of human beings, about their own health and bodies (via eating super unhealthy sh*t), so how could you even think of the possibility that they would ever give up animal consumption? Veganism is amazing for those who can do it, i applaud them, but it is still and will always be a personal choice for the people willing. So to me this kind of back and forth leads nowhere, like sure you're ideologically/theoretically right, but then what chaeri pls
PunkTheFunk 125,703
Minks will be on the brink and the population will shrink in the blink of an eye. This stinks. Danish government should rethink.
PsychoMaxcara 814
Well lemme just say humanity never ceases to fail when it comes to animal cruelty. This is hideous and disgusting. I have no words right now. None of the animals chose to be on an effing farm so some apes can have fur coats. Argh
