Policy definitely matters, the things you mentioned also matter, but policy is huge. Democrats who cosplay as progressive, or are progressive tend to well, and centrist Democrats who are older, out of touch and viewed as career politicians tend to fail or win by embarrassingly small margins.

When I say it doesn’t matter I’m proving your point - People who voted for a $15 minimum wage voted for Trump. So clearly they will vote for a President that doesn’t represent the policies they want.

Career politicians fail in both parties. It’s how we got Trump. But Democrats won’t revive the party or start winning with an AOC like figure either.

Also can we start being honest here? Biden is taking PA, NV and maybe even Georgia and likely AZ. Along with taking back the upper Midwest from Trump. That is not a small margin FFS.

Trump is packing his bags due to Black voters coming out for Biden. Because guess what, they don’t want people like Bernie. Neither do the Latino voters, so going further left won’t get them on board.

I really feel like young far lefties are now sad they can’t complain about Trump anymore so Biden not doing good enough in their eyes is their new thing to cuddle up to.

I do agree that we can sell the American people on progressive policies that they overwhelmingly support, without having to use the socialist label.

It's just Republicans and conservatives are going to scream and label you socialist anyway. So at some point you have to start playing ball and going on the offense instead of always playing defense and letting Republicans call the shots and define you.

Florida voted to raise the minimum wage, which Biden supports and he still failed there. Blaming socialism is an easy out instead of blaming Biden's weak campaign. Red states turned blue because Democratic voters turned out, and Trump is intensely unpopular and handled the Covid response terribly, Biden did not win Red States with the help of center right Republicans, he did it in spite of them.

I'm a Latino that lives in South Florida. I can tell you that every single ad the Trump had running in Florida was  "Biden is a Socialist that will raise taxes" in English and Spanish networks and English and Spanish radio. I mean were the ads any different in other parts of the country? Honestly I'd like to know.

Also we don't call raising the minimum wage Democratic socialism. It's been labeled as a "livable wage." One of the few rebrandings that has worked.

The democrat party needs to understand that just about the only reason they're winning is because of record black turnout in large rustbelt/southern cities. We need to get back in touch with hispanic voters and particularly cuban voters if we want to win another election in Florida. Trump's plays on calling Biden a " radical socialist" worked even though its far from untrue.

Republicans and high-ranking Democratic officials called Obama a marxist and a socialist relentlessly. He won Florida twice, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

Leftwing policies are popular. They aren't why Biden tanked.

The left must run the party from now on if the Dems want to have any hope of staving off the next Trump. The center ran their ideal strategy twice and tanked both times.

Lemme do the math, but

That’s not enough. We need about 93,000 Biden votes in Clayton county to get GA. I hope this is off. I don’t know if this is pre-mail in or what. Actually, we’re seeing another number in the link: The final vote totals for all 65 precincts were Joe Biden (91,072) Donald Trump (15,222). This means Trump is still +1,200 votes. I thought we had more left to count in Clayton county.

Right now, it looks like we might not get GA. It might all rest on PA. But maybe there’s 1,500 votes or so they haven’t counted yet for some reason. Or maybe we can catch up elsewhere.

EDIT: This is inaccurate. There’s more to count in Clayton county. It’s not over yet.

Im sorry :bradley: I made a typo :selena: I meant that calling biden a socialist was far from true. I understand that leftwing policies are popular, it's the point im trying ot make..

Trump's administration was disastrous, the United States had one of the worst responses to Coronavirus costing us hundreds of thousands of lives... Trump is historically unpopular and Joe Biden still didn't get the kind of turnout polls predicted. I don't understand what people don't understand about this. Without a literal national disaster this election would've ended in Trump's victory. Latino voters did support Bernie, and so did most younger black voters. Going further left is so necessary at this point. If we keep going in this direction we are not going to actually improve people or the material conditions under which they live. The Democratic approach of moving to the right and not pushing progressive policies out of fear of alienating mythical demographics is going to feed fascism.

It's not enough?

I really hope we still have mail-in ballots left. Was Clayton county the last to report from GA? Or de have more counties where Biden could pick up more votes?

Clayton county was last. People must had overestimated the number of votes left to count. :(

If we can find 2,000 votes anywhere in GA, Trump will lose it, but right now Trump has the edge in GA. It’s recount land, but he is ahead.

Edit: People are claiming it’s off

Bernie massively outperformed Biden with Hispanic and Latino voters in the primary. What in the world are you talking about?

This is why the left gets so angry with the center. You get exactly what you want, over and over and over again, and you fail, over and over and over again, and the answer is ALWAYS to move further to the right. Always. You never learn anything, you constantly insult and belittle and disenfranchise the left, and lose, or massively underperform, and then you blame the left anyway. The last massively popular president the Dems had, Obama, ran as an unabashed progressive in his campaign. You tried exactly what you're claiming now ever since, and it's resulted in absolute catastrophe.

Biden is barely eeking out a win against one of the most worst, most unpopular presidents of all time. Someone who just killed 250,000 people with a pandemic that's continuing to explode all over the country. After we were told that he was the only one we could vote for in the primary because he was the only way we could guarantee a "blue wave" and capture the Senate, despite the fact that that meant giving up on every policy we actually wanted and he ultimately proved to be poison for down-ballot races. When the Democrats lost 10 seats in the House and aren't going to take the Senate like they hoped to, even after blowing hundreds of millions of dollars on races that went nowhere, all but guaranteeing that absolutely nothing will be accomplished over the next four years.

I have no idea why I let myself get invested in these back-and-forths with people who have no interest hearing anything other than standard, conventional wisdom, even when it's just failed spectacularly right in front of them. It's like talking to a brick wall.
