IMO, the most realistic way the US can get universal free healthcare and other progressive policies is by increasing state rights on a myriad of topics and then push for ballot measures. progressive policies are always popular, progressive politicians have never been popular. Pushing for a progressive presidency is a wasted effort I'm afraid.. Oregon just decriminalized all drugs through a ballot measure and Florida just raised their minimum wage to $15 that way, it's the easiest way to get progressive change.

I’m not even American, but AOC would make an incredible president.

She’s not completely left as many would assume, but is the right path to get USA on par with modern day socialist policies, eg: universal healthcare, tuition-free education, a non-poverty minimum wage, and free/subsidized accommodation.

I'd prefer a Latina/Latino from the sun belt tbh who is progressive and I like AOC. I do think geography (e.g. someone known in local politics) can help even if it only helps a tiny bit....

This literally isn’t true.

Bernie was leading across all racial groups before SC, where Biden largely won because of Clyburn’s endorsement, and then after that, Biden was carried to victory with $200 million of free positive press and a torrential downpour of endorsements from politicians attempting to stop Bernie from winning the nomination. 

Bernie has already more than proven that he can inspire Black voters if the party doesn’t outright smear him. He’s literally more popular with Black women than any other subgroup of people in the country.

Leftwing policies and politicians are broadly popular, period. This notion that Black voters won’t vote for a progressive in a general election is an old talking point pushed by the very same people that have been advocating for the same exact strategy that Biden tanked with this time around. We’re not doing this anymore. It’s time to move on.

People, in what world is AOC ready to be president by 2024 and in what world will she have more influence as a president, with all of the headaches that come with the office, than in other roles such as Senator or Speaker. I'd 100% rather have her influencing politics from the side than making her go for the big role too early and potentially ruining her career in the process.

The world where AOC will have more influence as president is the world we live in now. How would a presidential run even ruin her career anyway?

Kamala should (and likely will) be the candidate in 2024. I'd make a bet the Biden Administration is even preparing her to take over during the latter years so they can have a platform to run on.

I can tell you right now that the left will never (and should never) roll over and let the party attempt to anoint another centrist nominee like Harris. Expect another intraparty fight in 2024, to say the least.

Running for President at age 35, the minimum for running, is a political suicide. President is the office someone should strive for as a parting gift to their legacy, not as the starting one. Do you know how much influence she can have if she keeps doing what she's doing from the side? Much more than what she'd have in a possibly contested and very controversial election that could end up with her not having the Senate, like Biden, for example. She'd be much more useful in lower offices, with more direct contact with the people, first. This is a no brainer.
