I mean, we all come together in r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s times of traumatizing, debilitating stress aka these past three days, but now that it's clear that Biden's the winner and we all took a deep breath, we can go back to normal aka ripping each other apart :bear:

GGD in a nutshell :ladyhaha:

I hate people who will not conform unles their wishes are 10000% met. Gosh, they believe we can go from Trump to a socialist utopia in one term.

There's a difference between holding Twitter accountable for being a cesspool of white supremacism and holding Twitter accountable because "it doesn't allow every opinion" (a dog whistle for allowing hate speech btw). Gov't SHOULD hold Twitter accountable in case it is found that it was the platform used for a terrorist attack, for example, but not for banning a crazy MAGA hat spreading misinformation.

Well, if you go back to the original instance of this entire censorship debacle, part of it goes back to the stupid hunter biden story that was censored from twitter. The article (regardless of how we feel about it) was written by a journalist from a widely known publication. That's a lot different than censoring hate speech (which is obviously important). Again this is why I said there needs to be regulation as it's not entirely black and white. There should be some consensus on what is okay and what is not.

Last comment from me because the big tech conversation is totally irrelevant to the election and I don't really want to derail the thread any further.

The truth doesn't change just because you don't like it.

Are you American? Did you vote for Trump?

Well, you sounding like one doesn't mean you are one. I know you aren't one. I just said you're using the talking points a right-winger would use. If you want to elect someone who doesn't have this amount of so-called "blood", then you'd be living in a fantasy if you think that is possible now. Holding an established politician in an imperialist nation such as the USA to such hugh scrutiny will lead yo to very dark places. Re-electing Trump or electing a fascist that wasn't even paid attention before, just because he's an outcast that doesn't have "blood" on his hands. Lord how hard it is to understand that gay people, for example, are in danger with a Trump presidency. 200.000 people died in like a year. And you're still implying Biden is worse. I cannot discuss in good faith with you if you think that

If you go back to one of my original comments I said it depends on what issue you're referring to. On the whole, yes. Joe is better than Trump. But if you go into the details you could find a couple of areas where Joe is not as good as Trump. There are very few of them but I'm not one of the people who will just blindly agree that Joe is 100% better than Trump on everything.

I'll stop. This really has no end. You can't expect to go from Trump to a literal Jesus just choosing to ignore the entire context.

ANYWAYS, in a free, open, and democratic society, it definitely shouldn't be up to the corporations to decide what speech is and isn't allowed even on their own platforms when they are effectively part of the public square.

Unless open debate and free speech just aren't democratic principles anymore when it comes to corporations and the platforms they create. :poot:

Free speech keeps the government from retaliating or restricting your speech, you can't have open debate on someone's private property, you do it in the public square. Social media is not the public square.
