They wanted Bernie’s platform. And instead, the party and the press propped up the guy with so many skeletons in his closet that it’s genuinely stunning he’s still in politics at all and who literally told Latino and Hispanic immigrant activists that they should vote for Trump when they criticized him for his record of deportations under Obama. And then he goes on to underperform with the demographics that Sanders did well with. What happened this election is blatantly obvious. The Democratic Party has to be completely dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up with real, legitimate leftwing and working class policies or we’re getting another Trump in 2024. This is a disgrace. Psychologically speaking the moderates and the progressives have an abusive relationship. Moderates tell progressives that they agree on the same goals but have different visions on how to get there. Their version is purposely designed to never get to the goal because the reality is moderate politicians don't actually have the same goals as progressives. Moderate voters believe that incrementalism makes sense because it does in real life but not in government and public policy. When the moderates (the ones with power) win they demand loyalty in return for protection (i.e. we have to stick together against common enemy #1). Progressives usually fold (because they want to progress society and they know that republicans are the antithesis of that). Then when the moderates get what they really want (power) they go back to always haggling with republicans on the incrementalism and then decrying the republicans when nothing gets done. The moderates are abusers (note: I'm referring to politicians here and not the voters). Progressives must either defect and build a larger consensus among the people who do not participate in our democracy and win over the moderates that can be won over or come to terms that their only purpose in our democracy is to vote for another person's dream (moderates).
