FfFfFfFF 58,378
Australian scientists have discovered a detached reef more than 500 metres high – taller than the Empire State Building – at the northern end of the Great Barrier Reef. The “blade-like” vertical reef about 130km off Cape York, Australia’s north-eastern tip, was found during a 3D seabed mapping exercise conducted from a ship owned by the Californian non-profit Schmidt Ocean Institute. “What it highlights is how little we know about a lot of the ocean, even the Great Barrier Reef. The marine park is 344,000 square kilometres – bigger than many European countries – and only about 6 or 7% of that is typical shallow-water reefs. The newly discovered reef does not appear to have a lot of hard corals in its upper section, but has “an incredible abundance” of sponges, sea fans and soft corals, suggesting the area is rich in nutrients carried by strong currents and upwellings of deep waters. TimisaMonster 31,073
Wow nature did THAT! Look at all the species that call it home! We need to protect the coral reefs! Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!
Lord Temptation 11,209
But according to radical leftwingers the great barrier reef is irreversibly dying and had less than 15 years left? Like how they predicted empty dams and no rain for 4 months back in January when we had bushfires, only to have dams at 100% capacity and record breaking rain all year Don’t @ me I’m only having a go at the doom and gloom radical wingers, not all lefties (I’m a lefty myself so, but a balanced one)

RahrahWitch 6,985
Wow, that so beautiful. Hopefully It wont bleach in response to warmer waters thanks to climate change like others have done.
