Galagala 4,618
Americans now are unprecedentedly sensitive with everything. It's ridiculous. Chill out, Twitter people.

You can no longer make fun of anything and anyone because people are bound to find the joke offensive / bad taste. Hence why so many comedians hosting televised shows nowadays are boring and tired because there's always the fear of getting canceled. i don’t know why you’re getting LMAOed because it’s true. “it’s not a joke unless everyone is laughing” well nothing is a joke anymore. people just like to feel miserable and offended about something. not talking about this particular snl skit, but just in general

Chill out, Twitter people. America has always been a pathetically sensitive nation. Remember the stupid backlash Erotica received?? It just seems to be more "in your face" now with the explosion of social media. Meanwhile the rest of the world remains unbothered and enjoying laughing at good comedy while Americans stay pressed
StarstruckIllusion 52,926
Imagine having a problem with consenting adults having sex. BioStasis 71
Let's be real though, Adele was due for some public thrashings. She's been in the industry, for what, 12 years and has never had any obvious attempts to drag her name. And we all know society cannot STAND to see a woman enjoying success so they concoct asinine "scandals" to try and ruin their success. The cycle of sexism and misogyny ticks on. Fresco 1,688
White divorced women travel a great distance at great expense to have consenting sex with African men because they have big d!cks. It seems to paint Africans in a desirable light, while trying to paint the women as needy cougars. But go ahead and take offence. It's your right. I suppose the income inequality that *may* or may not be depicted is so horrible. Because if a woman has more money than a man, its offensive to some traditionalists. I would be offput angry if white men travel to Africa to have coerced sex with very poor black women for money paid to a pimp. That's sex slavery. But I was under the impression that Africa is patriarchal not matriarchal, so the skit should be depicting concensual sex with men.

Being stereotyped and reduced down to a sex object isn't "desirable" .

These white women are being portrayed as privileged idiot predators when in actuality many are just sad and lonely and looking for an escape. Comedy is about punching up and down. The whole point of comedy is to see the humor in a situation. Its not a personal attack on anyone. Its okay to joke about sad and lonely people looking for an escape. Are you saying we cant joke about Emos because there is pain behind their look? we cant joke about older men dating younger women because they are insecure? we cant joke about women traveling to africa to sleep with african men because they are lonely?.. It's comedy. You don't like the joke. Fine. That's your choice. Edit: (But a sex object is desirable *to someone* basically by definition) I kind-of watched it with a straight face as it wasn't particularly funny to me. The fortune teller from 2019 skit cracked me up tho.

AtLeastImAlive 15
Satire can effectively (and hilariously) highlight actual major sociocultural issues, but it has to be smart and well-executed; SNL simply doesn’t have the ability to do satire well. South Park, Always Sunny, etc are far more overtly offensive, but the satirical component and thereby overall moral of the topic is clearly illuminated via the absurdity and manner of execution. SNL’s writers/guests just can’t pull it off similarly, at least not for a long time now. And thus the result is neither funny nor enlightening. (Speaking in generalities; I watched the accompanying clip here but not the actual episode; thus no thoughts on Adele herself one way or the other).
