The image, stretching for 40 yards on a hillside in Peru, shows a creature with pointy ears, orb-like eyes and a long striped tail. It appears to be a cat lounging, as cats often do.

Archaeologists stumbled across the faded etching while remodeling a section of a UNESCO heritage site known as the Nazca Lines, Peru’s Ministry of Culture announced last week.

The catlike geoglyph — which experts say dates to 200 B.C. to 100 B.C. — is the latest discovery among the carvings of larger-than-life animals and plants previously found between the towns of Nazca and Palpa, in a desert plain about 250 miles southeast of the capital, Lima.

“It’s quite striking that we’re still finding new figures, but we also know that there are more to be found,” Johny Isla, Peru’s chief archaeologist for the lines, told the Spanish news agency Efe.

I'm just surprised they NEVER saw it before. Unless they never explored that place until just now.

We'll build an empire if we so desire, travel the world and set it on fire!

Same, also intrigued as to how they already have stairs and a pathway but it was just discovered :poot:

Tragic.

Weird. On top picture the cat has no front "paws".

On second pic, people are walking on the glyph and "drawing" front paws.

And yeah, these stairs.

This thing really looks like a funny hoax...

People working on these sites to maintain or repair the lines damaged by stupid truck drivers or Greenpeace activists usually use this kind of big flat slabs under the shoes to walk the very fragile surface

It's not the case here (click click for bigger res).

This cat is probably as genuine as Trump's Covid infection !
