"lately" is the duration WHILE we're waiting for ARTPOP

so i believe right now is just a "waiting" stage, where she entertains us with random and fun trashy vids, only to fill up our time

because it wouldn't make sense for her to start doing ARTPOP-related stuff now, making it all colorful already, because it would die out when ARTPOP is actually released ;D THAT should all hint to you that THIS isn't what ARTPOP will look like. she's saving something different for it.

so this is just a fill-up-retain-our-attention phase
