This explains it.  I opened my DAW (music production software) recently and got a message: 

"we're sorry, all the auto-tune in the world has been used up"

Now it makes sense.

It was a joke, an appropriate response to Paris Hilton releasing music.  As much as I liked a few of her songs, it's ok to joke about her.  

This whole "thought you were doing something" is just one of those dumb phrases that non creative people use to try to put other people down.

That's a bit better. But yeah, she'd be nowhere without autotune, she made it a joke by being a singer who can't actually sing.
