TheOriginalOne 10,523
Is it under the name Katy Hudson? Or does it show up with the rest of Perry’s albums?

Omg, those were magical times. Madonna was hugely popular almost from her very start. Borderline was everywhere in 1984 along with the MV. Also from her 1st album, Lucky Star, Holiday, and Everybody were heard a lot. But she became cemented as an icon during her 2nd album, Like A Virgin, released in 1984. The hits from that album such as Material Girl and Like A Virgin continued the string of great songs from her first album. Announcers referred to her as "The Material Girl". She was everywhere. So I think the combination of her hits from the 1st and 2nd albums made her an icon by early 1985, maybe even earlier in 1984. MTV (1981) and VH1 (1985) were non-stop music videos 24/7 for years. I consumed more music watching MVs than I did from listening to songs. Madonna's MVs were iconic, adding to the enormous popularity she enjoyed. She was already producing so many MVs during her first two albums. I would say the impact of Madonna in 1984 was equivalent to Gaga's impact in The Fame era. Madonna had an easier time than Gaga in winning over the GP because Madonna's imagery and lyrics weren't as controversial as Gaga's during her early eras. Now it's been 38 years since Madonna released "Everybody" song and MV in 1982. People use the phrase "we're not worthy". I attend concerts of so many artists, but in the venue with Madonna during Madame X was the only time I really felt not worthy. I'm glad you ask what it was like 1984-1990. People who attend her recent tours experience that same feeling. Her aura lives on to the present day. That is the mark of a true legend. I live outside the space time continuum.
