My Little Phoney 658
"Having an equal non stan perspective" what a laugh. I'm sorry but i've seen the MDNA tour and its not that mind blowing. What a way to overrate it. Literally the only issue with the BTWB is the fact that the set doesn't change. There's almost no modern pop concerts that don't include set changes, interludes, and remixes so without those attributes its understandable to me why some people would come to the conclusion that the BTWB is sub par in comparison to those that do. But when you really lay out the groundwork its not sub par. In my opinion the fact that the set doesn't change does handicap it, but I honestly can't say the MDNA tour was that much better. Its just that its use of interludes makes it appear more modern. Plus she adds in all of her bull**** political messages as if she actually knows what shes talking about which makes people think she has something to say even though she doesn't. I can't stand that about Madonna honestly.... BUT of course once I actually see the BTWB next month i'll be able to have a more knowledgeable opinion. Tbh, I think the Castle is a huge plus because it's more challenging to keep everything interesting, the set DOES change with the castle opening/closing and lights and props. And Gaga had epic intro films/interludes before, true, but then they got so popular and then the challenge was to find an interesting alternative. I was quite sceptical about this tour but after seeing it live, I realise it's much better than what she's done before.
Willeo Soeurs 37
the context is everything. the monster ball 1.0 was so rushed and amateur as gaga was supposed to tour with kanye west, that it wasn't surprising that the monster ball 2.0 was so different and much more polished. gaga barely had time to plan monster ball 1.0. she didn't even have time to put in 'telephone' in the setlist. on the other hand, i don't think the btwb will change AS much. gaga had several months, if not nearly a year to plan and flesh out all the concepts. errr....it's a fan-made alternative video. you can tell by how much louder the music is and all that editing http://gagadaily.com...showtopic=36649 That fan made video should have put in a caption n write "fan-made" Now everyone around the world gonna think it's real

She OBVIOUSLY left it out INTENTIONALLY so that when the tour came back around there would be the fan favorite "Telephone" to see. Duh

NIKE 273
i think minimal changes should be made the good thing about the shows in the US will be that the stage isn't going to be so vastly huge as it was around the world - and I think GaGa can command a smaller(ish) stage better then the one she is using in stadiums. Ultimately, I think the changes will involve lighting + a couple outfit changes (Born This Way especially - she can't move in that thing) and not much else
Pop Muse Tumblr 1
It was rushed but to me the mb 1.0 had a lot more atmosphere than second , it makes sense to call it the theatre version because it was a lot more cinematic and the small hollowed out tv stage look was pretty genius AND she sang "eh eh" She cant cut singles put or shorten them, you just dont. They are singles for a reason, they have to stay. no they don't if the singles don't fit the theme of the show and/or gaga gets sick of singing them. and i'm not here for 1-2 minute snippets and medleys like what janet did recently. for example, check out madonna's 2001 tour setlist. old songs not from the "ray of light" and "music" albums in bold: "Drowned World/Substitute For Love" "Impressive Instant" "Candy Perfume Girl" "Beautiful Stranger" (contains elements of "Soul Bossa Nova (Dim's Space-A-Nova)") "Ray of Light" (ends with a reprise of "Drowned World/Substitute For Love") "Paradise (Not for Me)" (Video Interlude) "Frozen" (Stereo MC's Remix) "Nobody's Perfect" (contains elements of "Open Your Heart") Medley: "Mer Girl" "Sky Fits Heaven" "Mer Girl" (Reprise) "What It Feels Like for a Girl" (Remix) (Video Interlude) "I Deserve It" "Don't Tell Me" "Human Nature" "The Funny Song (Oh Dear Daddy)" "Secret" "Gone" (Replaced by "You'll See" in selected US Shows) "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" (Dancer/Instrumental Interlude) "Lo Que Siente La Mujer" (contains elements from "What It Feels Like for a Girl" (Calderone & Quayle Dark Side Mix)) "La Isla Bonita" "Holiday" (contains elements from "Fate" and "Music Sounds Better with You") "Music" (contains elements from "Trans-Europe Express") no "like a virgin", "like a prayer", "vogue", etc  but at least madge had plenty of NEW hits (in underline). i think that's another reason why the mdna tour isn't selling as well as s&s- too much ****/NON-hit "mdna" album material. then in 2004- the hits came back. "The Beast Within" (Video Introduction) (contains elements of "El Yom 'Ulliqa 'Ala Khashaba") "Vogue" "Nobody Knows Me" "Frozen" "American Life" (contains elements of the Headcleanr Rock Mix) "Express Yourself" "Burning Up" "Material Girl" "Hollywood" (Remix)(Dancer/Video Interlude) "Hanky Panky" "Deeper and Deeper" "Die Another Day" "Lament" "Bedtime Story" (Remix)(Dancer/Video Interlude) "Nothing Fails" "Don't Tell Me (contained elements of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" in most European shows) "Like a Prayer" "Mother and Father" (contains excerpts from "Intervention") "Imagine" "Into the Groove" (contains elements of "Susan MacLeod" and "Into the Hollywood Groove") "Papa Don't Preach" (ends with a reprise of "American Life") "Crazy for You" "Music" (contains elements from "Into the Groove") "Holiday" (contains elements of "She Wants to Move")
ItalianGuy 19
It was rushed but to me the mb 1.0 had a lot more atmosphere than second , it makes sense to call it the theatre version because it was a lot more cinematic and the small hollowed out tv stage look was pretty genius I agree about mb 1.0 being very atmospheric.During the opening of "dance in the dark" there was all this fog, flashing lights, she was alone on the stage, then the dancers would jump up behind her out of the fog. The fashion was really cool for mb 1.0 The show had a very dark, adult, and artsy feel to it. The video montages were all from 1.0 and the whole show felt like that. Now 2.0 was much more spectacle, had a better plot, much better live instruments. They both were good but I do get nostalgic thinking about monster ball 1.0 because it was a smaller show and many less people got the chance to see it.
