BLACKPINK makes history; 589k albums sold on first day

Today was the physical release of BLACKPINK's THE ALBUM in South Korea and well  Let's just say that every BLACKPINK release comes with some records being broken. These sales were reported by Hanteo, a korean site which tracks the deliveries of albums and the transactions being made in stores (aka its reliable asf). It ended up selling 589,310copies. Take a look at the records they broke:

4th highest 1st day of sales of all time (male and female artists)

Fastest Korean girl group album to have sold 100k, 300k, and 500k copies

Highest 1st day of sales for a girlgroup of all time

Highest 1st week (!) of sales for a girlgroup of all time (this one takes me out  )

Eligible for 2x platinum 

It's on it's way to sell 1 MILLION copies in korea, a feat usually only male artists are capable of, and I'm so proud of them  and the promo is only just getting started so we're in for a ride!
