MOT 2,797
It depends who the person is. The classic non Gaga stan is a mature gp who dismissed Gaga years ago as an attention-seeking weirdo plastic popstar who can't write a song, play an instrument or hold a note. That person will stick their fingers in their ears if you try to play any early Gaga and will roll their eyes on hearing the word Chromatica. They need to hear Joanne or ASIB, preferably without knowing that it's Gaga they're listening to. Actually, go with ASIB and tell them it's Linda Ronstadt. They'll lap it up and then you can do the big reveal.

If I had to pick one that I think is universally good though I would pick The Fame because it represents what sound made her successful and popular among the GP. Yes, it depends upon the tastes of the person. If she doesn't like pop but likes jazz, then C2C. If she likes country, then Joanne. I think The Fame is a good choice, but all her pop albums are also great. I live outside the space time continuum.
Jose P 23,341
Honestly Chromatica. It sounds relatively modern, it’s fun bops, it’s not too long, and it’s not as sonically complex or wild as BTW or ARTPOP which could be a bit too much for a newcomer, and you can ease them into the crazier stuff later. I’d say The Fame as well but it sounds dated now so maybe some wouldn’t appreciate it. The Fame Monster would also be a good choice, it’s short, contains some signature hits, and it’s also not too sonically wild while still being very interesting and bold. StrawberryBlond 14,353
Joanne and I'll tell you why. It has a bit of nearly everything Gaga's done before so listening to it will mean you can then decide what's the best album to listen to next depending on what part you liked. Years ago, someone did a chart for all Bjork's albums in order for new listeners to get into her music. You started with her second album and then the next one you listen to depends on whether you liked or disliked it. The same is followed for the next one you listen to until you've listened to them all and the idea is that you're a fan by the end of it. I'd imagine to do the same thing for Gaga's albums would involve us starting with Joanne. If you liked it, you'd get sent on to ASIB, if you disliked it, you'd get sent onto TF, for example. And if you want to break down specifically which songs they liked, you could whittle it down even better. If they liked PI, you could recommend Chromatica. If they liked MR, Sinner's Prayer and Angel Down, give them ASIB. If they liked DIC and JW, give them BTW or AP. It's a good album to see the full breadth of what Gaga can do, minus jazz. Chromatica Island 8,517
I would choose Chromatica or The Fame Any/All Pronouns, Genderfluid🏳⚧
Noir 15,809
The Fame Monster and Born This Way. Maybe Chromatica because it’s her most recent work.
ShayCristoforo 10,565
BTW is amazing but has a lot of cringe. TFM is the best intro to Gaga imo Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.
ARTGOD 3,266
The Fame might be a little basic to them if they don’t like pop music. BTW and ARTPOP might be too aggressive and are only recommended to people who already like her shtick or who are overlooking her because they think she can only do standard pop music. Joanne might be good if they don’t like electronic music that much, but it also doesn’t guarantee they’ll like the rest of her discography. I’d say TFM or Chromatica are the best choices. They’re standard pop albums that are friendly to outsiders to the genre but feature enough Gaga features to let you understand a little bit what her deal is. Smother Em Eh 7,052
The Fame Monster definitely. It’s her best body of work and not too out there and crazy like BTW and AP. It’s also not as outdated and basic as TF. Chromatica would be a close second after TFM! Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views!
Ivy 11,854
It definitely depends on what type of music they usually listen to. If the person listen to classical music then I would recommend Cheek to Cheek, if they like more alternative stuff maybe TFM. The Fame for pop music fans, and BTW for people who like rock. She has something for everyone
