Simple masks are not designed to keep viruses themselves out, yes, but they CAN keep the aerosol particles that carry viruses. I know that but the virus can apparently get through the masks everyone else at the event is wearing too. To the virus, the masks that we are wearing do look like Lana's. Basically, all the masks we're wearing could be ineffective. Who even knows if the medical grade ones are enough? The virus is apparently the most easily contracted through physical contact, which is why hand washing was touted as the first line of defence. If masks are so effective, why, even when they're mandatory, are infection rates still rising? Because it's possible to catch it even when you're taking precautions. If anything, criticise the source of the issue, which is allowing public events to happen as opposed to weather or not people are wearing masks at them.

I'm not ignorant, I have been researching this. I think we should take precautions any way we can but we need to stop acting like a mask is the be all and end all saviour. Plenty of people have got infected despite wearing one. Going out at all is the biggest risk regardless of how you protect yourself. Maybe Lana shouldn't have gone looking for publicity by wearing a mask that could easily be criticised but there are far worse things she could do. It's best not to act too high and mighty when any of us could have the virus despite precautions. It's not just the stupid, careless and selfish who are catching it.

I meant the book. I wish Gaga would do something like the new Lana's book. I think nobody should wear this kind of mask, obviously. However, that's up to Lana's own judgment and the fans that approached her. It's not my business and I still respect Lana as an individual.

I meant the post on her Instagram about women in music. I think that was misunderstood because everybody assumed she was being racist and I think she was feeling not-appreciated as she thought she deserved (which it's true, after losing the Grammy for best album).

She is an adult. It is not her fans responsibility to school her. She can grow but for many celebrities, they won't change not unless their image is negatively impacted.

When has she ever shown that she doesn't like gays? And she's liberal. I know that her embracing of American flag imagery and all-American themes, that doesn't automatically make you Republican. Back in 2017, when she was promoting her album, she said she was going to drop the American flag video backdrop on her live shows because she didn't think it was sensitive in the current climate. She also famously tweeted that she was going to put a binding hex on Trump at this time to stop him from committing evil. That album was when she was being political for the first time and made it clear that she was liberal and anti-Trump. Admittedly, I wondered for a long time what her politics were but we've known for a few years now. A lot of people make assumptions about Lana because she's such an enigma who doesn't give much away, which isn't looked upon very well these days. People want to know what you think about everything, which isn't really necessary and is rather intrusive.

I didn't say not to wear a mask, just that it's not some 100% foolproof magic shield like people try to claim it is. I'm just being realistic, not irresponsible. She should have worn a proper mask to avoid controversy completely but then people would've picked up the fact the event went ahead at all, so I don't think it was a winning situation whichever way you look at it. But if you're going to pick on someone for not following rules, go after those who are throwing raves where there are no masks, people deliberately coughing on others, people licking products on supermarket shelves and people calling it a hoax and nothing to worry about. Not a girl just making an ill-conceived attempt at mask fashion.

By the way, did anyone consider she wore this so people could hear her talk better? Because I've certainly struggled to properly decipher what some people are saying through their masks.
