I do agree with your post. Lots of good points. But I find people who make this "wait for marriage idea" were also pressured into it from parents or religious leaders, just in subtle, manipuluative, subconscious ways. For example shaming other people, and putting marriage up on a pedestal to the point that it's an object, and not an actual real connection. I think back to all the warped messaging my sister got when I was I kid. Daddy wanted her to be a precious little flower with long blonde hair for her future husband. But that stuff gets into the psyche of children and I really don't think it's a good thing. I think finding a great partner involves allowing yourself to experience different relationships, and allowing yourself to fall in love and what goes with it - without having to feel like you're giving away your sacred hole and your reputation and your ability to impress (who?) with the fact that you waited for marriage. I'm not mad at anybody for choosing this path. There are many reasons, so I wouldn't tell someone what is right for them, but personally I find when you examine the reasons it usually relates back to parents and religious leaders implanting a moral judgement on the value of being pure on the wedding night. I wouldn't shame anyone for being a virgin, but when they come to brag about it like they've achieved something, I just can't quite agree.
