USA Presidential Debate 2020 (Biden x Trump)

Having Sanders in last night’s episode of Jerry Springer would had made it a full on cat fight. Last night was bad enough with one of the candidates shouting over and constantly interrupting the other; if both were like that, it would had been pure chaos. I’m glad one of the candidates was relatively calm and collected (“relative” being the key word here).

The fact I still have GAY LATINOS arguing with me on FB about how trump is good for the country and that the left media is taking him out of context etc......

I cannot deal w the fact these people still defend him

The fact that anyone in the gay community can still support trump after barring transgender troops, ending healthcare protections for transgender americans (during pride month AND a pandemic) and is currently arguing to the supreme court our sexuality isnt covered under the bill of rights is beyond me.(Not to mention electing an anti-marriage equality SC judge)

The clownery that jumped out last night. These 2 grown men fighting like children are supposed to be the leaders of the free world

It's frustrating to occasionally see their behavior lumped together like that.

I mean, if Trump had behaved like an adult with even some appreciation of the situation he was in, there would have been minimal cross-talking, and the event as a whole could have gone farther. That is to say nothing of his refusal to denounce white supremacy.

Sure, Biden told him to shut up and tried to get a word in, but on the whole, there was really no parallel with how these two guys behaved.

In terms of policy, however, there are many parallels.

Do you care to be more specific?

They both do not support universal health care.

They both support increasing police funding.

They both do not support a green new deal.

They both are funded by billionaires.

I could go on.

I've seen plenty of Bernie videos. He's brilliant.

And even if I hadn't, the premise of my argument still stands. No one could reign the president in, he is unhinged and doesn't know how to debate. That's not something Biden should be docked for.

We disagree and that's ok. But when did I dock Biden for an unhinged Trump? I didn't.

Nope, and not nearly as many as some might think. On healthcare alone, Biden’s plan would expand affordable care to 25-30 million more people than what is offered right now.

When it comes to systemic racism, I am certainly putting my faith in the ticket that openly condemns white supremacy, rather than the one that doesn’t.

Biden would get us back into the Paris Agreement, and take climate change seriously.

And between the two of them, I would easily trust Biden to get us through the rest of this pandemic in a way which puts science first, not what is politically convenient.

It’s easy to say that both Trump and Biden are the same, people tried that same argument with Hillary. But looking at the differences between them, I think it’s pretty clear who I think is better for the country in this election.

One more thing: next January, one of these two men will be inaugurated. Meanwhile, other elections will be taken place. That is where we will see the true progress taking place. And between Trump and Biden, as more progressive bills cross their desk, which do you believe is more likely to take them seriously? I’m fairly confident it’s the latter.

It comes down to this: Sanders himself says that his supporters need to vote for Biden. Biden wants to expand the ACA with a public option. Trump wants to destroy the ACA and take us back to the days where people with pre-existing conditions could not get health insurance. Biden is open to police reform. Trump wants the police to be even more authoritarian. Biden will restore the EPA and give them enforcing power again. Trump wants to dismantle the EPA (as per his executive orders greatly reducing what the EPA can enforce). Biden, as per his website, “will enact legislation to bar 501(c)(4)s from spending in elections”. Trump passed a tax act which decreased taxes for billionaires, further increasing the income and wealth gap.

On every single issue brought up, Biden does better than Trump.

Ok but these aren't totally truthful. Inaccurate at best.

Neither supports M4A but Biden supports expanding upon the ACA and giving affordable insurance to more Americans while Trump wants to tear it down and boot millions off their healthcare.

They both want to raise police funding but Biden wants to reform the police and force our law enforcement and penal system to acknowledge and begin working on the unfair treatment of non-whites while Trump literally thinks racial sensitivity training is racist.

Neither supports the Green New Deal but Biden has shown a willingness to work with AOC and other progressives on climate change and, regardless, wants us to get to totally green and renewable energy by 2050 while Trump doesn't even believe in climate change :rip: he says we just have to rake the forests and nuke the hurricanes.

Currently, Biden is funded mainly by us supporters who are donating massive amounts so he can finally end this goddamn nightmare :rip:

Biden might not be as progressive as we'd like but he is nothing like Trump.

Whimsical bitch

Lmao.

You can't just call something inaccurate, fail to explain how/why, then go on with your day, can you? Couldn't be me.

Expanding the ACA is not universal health care. The unnecessary deaths in our country due to lack of health care will continue regardless of this election outcome. So, indeed, that reason was truthful and accurate.

The police are a fundamentally racist organization. Expanding their funding, regardless of the explanation behind it, is inimical to the interests of the people. I said both want to expand police funding, and that reason was also truthful and accurate.

Finally, Biden pays lip service to progressives while upholding the interests of those who pay and advise him. Renewable energy by 2050 is not near good enough and will result in ecological catastrophe.

Biden has more funding from wall street than Trump and is funded by more billionaires than Trump. That was my claim and it, yet again, is truthful and accurate.

Biden and Obama created the very conditions for Trump to be elected.

Biden's plan will leave a nonzero amount of poor people without healthcare and, therefore, to die during a pandemic. That's not nearly good enough.

Biden literally participated in creating the police state and carceral state that disproportionately affects black people, indigenous people, and other communities of color. Biden is the embodiment of covert and systemic white supremacy.

You realize Biden had to drop out of his last bid for POTUS because he is habitual/pathological liar, right? I don't trust him at all.

Yes, people like me pointed out the similarities between Trump and Hillary, you didn't listen, and then your candidate lost. Why are you recycling this tired and losing strategy?

Lastly, Biden literally said he would veto Medicare for All. If you think he's going to sign progressive bills into law, I'm afraid you're misinformed.

I don't care what Bernie says anymore.

Expanding the ACA is not good enough.

Biden's climate plans are not good enough.

Biden doing better than Trump is not good enough.
