Biden's best moments were when he talked directly to the camera, uninterrupted. If we had more of that, then this debate would've been very different, but the reality is that Trump just threw all the rules out the window and did whatever he wanted to do. Biden handled himself better than I thought he would've.

Exactly. Biden had some great speeches when he was actually able to speak to the camera, uninterrupted. I get that takes away a bit of the debate aspect out of it, but they should mute the mics on the next debate.

100% agree on the muting. They just need to mute Trump next time when he continues to interrupt.

I mean yeah for us it's good but Biden can still hear him. At least this way we know why Biden couldn't get a word in without being interrupted.

Sure, but that's just the nature of the debate. Unless they were in separate rooms where they just turned off Trump's mic so Biden couldn't hear him at all, then that's just the nature of a debate. It would at least be better for the people watching the debate.

I actually think that this'll be a net positive for Biden.

Everyone expected Trump to not talk about policy but instead just take personal attacks on Biden, but this was like on a whole other level. I mean, it's honestly kind of amazing to see just how much Trump makes a fool of himself (and there are STILL people willing to vote for him). While this was certainly far from a great performance from Biden, he did, IMO, surpass the low bar for him set by Trump and some of the media.

I have to disagree. Trump had the rules laid out for him ahead of time, agreed to them, and still refused to follow propriety.

If anything, Sanders would've gotten even more flustered. It's not Biden's job to moderate the discussion and essentially babysit his opponent, it's his job to answer the questions put before him and state his case for the presidency.

I've seen plenty of Bernie videos. He's brilliant.

And even if I hadn't, the premise of my argument still stands. No one could reign the president in, he is unhinged and doesn't know how to debate. That's not something Biden should be docked for.
