For the first half of the debate he was completely unable to take control, and I understand, it's f*cking Trump we're talking about - he's basically a 74-year-old toddler. But come on, it's not like he didn't know that. He also didn't manage to get a clear answer out of both candidates for most of his questions, he should've been more insistent. Trump was the uncontrollable one, who from what I see interrupted Biden every time. The moderator was so bad. Anyway, I dont think this will change much, but at least Biden showed to everyone that is the opposite of Trump. He also clearly showed that all those conspiracies pushed by trump about his mental capacity are false. So only because of that, Biden won the debate. That's a great night for any candidate. I agree about him keeping his cool and letting Trump shoot himself in the foot. However, there were several times where I honestly didn't understand what point he was trying to get across and he constantly steered way off topic. He also wasn't precise enough with pretty much anything. I just hope his overall optimistic and somewhat unifying spirit get through to voters who'd never vote for Hillary last time. Eighteen 5,430 Posted September 30, 2020 Share Posted September 30, 2020 to those who say perhaps biden should have been more demure during the debates, i personally believe that calling out trump when he lies was the better route to go. and the moderator did a good job of regulating lies for the most part as well. to me, letting trump say all of his lies without a challenge to them would be a bad idea, because it would just let all of these assertions stand. and in the context of the debate, where each candidate has 2 minutes each for each question, without the possibility of a rebuttal most of the time, to interject and say something is a lie (particularly when your opponent frequently interrupts to spew more lies) doesn't strike me as wrong. although i will say that biden calling trump a clown being interpreted as a little far by some, to the point of diminishing biden a little because petty, holds some credence. but honestly, imo and from where i'm standing, it's about time somebody said the truth and at times played fire with fire. this guy IS a ****ing clown. if you can't call somebody breaking apart the democracy with lies and dubious practices a clown, you can you call a clown? I don't understand it's baffling to me how anyone can think Trump can win what's supposed to be an intellectual debate about politics, socio-economics, a job as a president that most studied for in law, history, economics in prestigious schools.. we are talking about a presidential debate where a candidate answers questions like a high schooler, with no data, no vocabulary, no plan, but instead shouting, tantrums and narcissistic laughable remarks that have been repeated for 4 years in his presidency. Of COURSE he loses, of COURSE. You shouldn't win by having an ounce of charisma or because you are able to talk louder than the other, people need to want and expect more out of this. This is not how a debate is supposed to be like. It is not how it is like in most countries in the world.
