This is just performative, its one of the last attempts to get more voters. If he believed this was the right thing to do, he would have done this years ago.

While it may be true that it is performative, on the substance, what he's done here is a positive thing. By making comments like this when republicans do good things you are only contributing to the hyper partisanship that is eroding away the functionality of our democracy. We must be able to accept when the "other team" does something positive without backhanded comments like this one.

A step in the right direction  :shadow:

But KKK had no place in American Society, way before 2016. I don't understand why Obama didn't brand them as a terror group during his tenure.

You're 100% right, what he did was great theres no doubt about it. I just made my comment because many people do not realize that this is rooted in manipulation tactics when he (seemingly) doesn't care for the purpose of the designation. Something like this could and should have been done ages ago (no even specifically by trump, any other president). But it could have been fixed by trump in a democratic and proper way during so many instances over the last four years (like the riots of KKK members, etc.)

There is a clear difference between doing a genuine unexpected good act VS doing it because it will better your image.

For example, here in Quebec, the conservative party in power has outlawed conversion therapy recently. As much as I hate them for many other reasons, I have nothing to say against that considering anti-LGBT bigotry has never been part of their platform or expressed by their members. It was just a good decision made by a bad party. So I clapped.

On the other hand, Trump is a well known racist with a wide white supremacist base. His election tactics are taken from fascism (putting a target on a common ennemy aka muslims/immigrants). And coincidentally, he believes anti-fascism is terrorism... 2+2=4. He's a wannabe fascist and hypocrite.

What he did is the equivalent of a racist saying "I'm not racist". Has no value whatsoever.
