You can't call this a troll thread when its contrasting actual charting numbers; the '3.5 note' "Everytime" was arguably a bigger hit than "I'm a Slave 4 U".

This is critical and absolutely notable because, yes, while "I'm a Slave 4 U" did pivotally mark the shift in Britney Spears' music, the problem lies with the black community and the now revisionist race-infused angst among music critics, bitter that she dared to categorically, unequivocally and demonstrably better the urban "I'm a Slave 4 U" with "Toxic", created by white songwriters and producers, and therefore she is talentless.

The issue then becomes the fact that, of course, 'Toxic' was indeed followed up with 'Everytime', which she not only has been proven to compose, but was also arguably a bigger hit song than "I'm a Slave 4 U."

Regardless of one's opinion of the song "Everytime", the fact is that it was a global hit, no different than 'I'm a Slave 4 U', which was created by black songwriters and producers.  'Everytime 'was a top 10 hit in 20 countries while "I'm a Slave 4 U" was a top 10 hit in 22 countries.  And as previously noted, 'Everytime' was a top 5 hit in 17 different countries as opposed to "I'm a Slave 4 U" being a top 5 hit in only 9 countries.

The self-composed "Everytime" was arguably bigger hit than the urban "I'm a Slave 4 U".

This issue is further complicated by the fact that Brandy Norwood and Beyonce Knowles have proven to be incapable of composing a hit song, unlike Britney Spears.  Yet only the later was and still is deemed untalented.

Thoughts on this dilemma???

"...She just came around to the place where I’d worked on the Frou Frou material, and initially I wasn’t quite sure what to do because she’s famous for her more dance-y songs, and I’m not. But it all turned out great. She had the root idea for “Everytime” (on her album In the Zone), and I could really tell that her heart was in it. I knew what my mission was. I could see the picture. She believed in the song, and I had to find a way to present it that was true to the simple emotion of it. It was a joy to do.

At the time, Britney had started to play the piano a bit, and she could certainly play well enough to spell out the root chords. She’d show me what she had, and I would say, “Well, here’s how we could fill this out.” We both knew where it needed to go, so I could color it in after she’d sung the main vocal. I love it when I get the vocal very early on, and I’m free to experiment with arrangement ideas while always hearing that final vocal. I love it when it can happen that way, though not every time is like that.

We both knew we had to avoid all the cheezy power ballad cliches. No windchimes into the chorus. No giant snare drums. I loved it."

At this point every single person on this forum knows britney composed and wrote everytime and everyone already knew before it's her best ballad. You have achieved your goal.

Two things:

1. Though she had released ballads before, Everytime was different in that she had composed it herself.

2. Everytime was about Justin Timberlake, and their breakup was still pretty big at the time.

In all honesty, constantly reminding us that she wrote it feels excessive and makes it seem like you have an agenda to push. This is why people react like this to these threads (same arguments, same video, same content..)

On the other hand, Everytime is indeed a very beautiful ballad, a big hit and signifies the time she indeed used her songwriting talent in her music. Maybe I should listen. :lana:

Oh I see so this war you have against Beyoncé is actually race-infused. You're just a white supremacist disguised as a Britney fan. Wtf did i just read?
