So, as I was watching the video, I noticed Gaga referenced a bunch of other works, including her own music video for Judas.

@Archduchess mentioned in another thread it reminded them to films by Jorodowsky:

 and I noticed a reference to Fellini's 8 and a half:

Are there any other references to works of art you noticded?

"The holy mountain" and "El Topo" by Jodorowsky for sure and maybe some Kenneth Anger, Arrabal, Pasolini and more Fellini influences

The Fall! So much from this movie especially in the use of color.

Both works of the same director that also directed the 911 film

I was immediately reminded of Frida Kahlo in some parts. What's even more interesting is that Frida Kahlo is believed to have suffered from fibromyalgia as well.

Me too. In another thread I said that the way the nurse/doctor is dressed on Gaga's mind reminds me of Frida's "Las Dos Fridas" and of some clothes she used to wear.

Clearly inspired by this

omfg this is STUNNING. this is why Gaga is my favorite artist of all time. she introduces the GP to these super avant-garde, obscure surrealist art of all cultures and generations through pop music and pop formats, while still making it make sense with her own music and concepts, which shows us it comes from an authentic artistic place. there's no one like her rn, she's the Bowie of our generation fr. the same thing he did with rock, she's doing with pop and it's just pure genius and inspiring.

Right?! Nobody does it like Lady Gaga. I’m so impressed.
