so who here are TPR fans?   Apparently the new album is still due out sometime in 2021 but it seems up in the air exactly when.  Unfortunately, they lost their unofficial "fifth member" producer Kato in a motorcycle accident, so this will be their first album without him collaborating and producing.

I've loved this band since their first releases, a great resurgence of riff driven hard rock with great vocals from Taylor Momsen.  It's uncanny how much she sounds like Layne Staley from Alice in Chains at times.  Taylor and Ben Phillips are a great songwriting team.

What are your favorite songs?

I love almost everything from them, but my favorite song is probably this one:

this song sounds so much like Alice in Chains:

first single from the new album:

its hard to believe she was like 16/17 while writing that album.  Her voice is so mature.   I remember in interviews that Ben Phillips was pretty shocked when he first heard her.

So, their album is coming out next year, then? Pity, I thought this was finally go be the year that all my faves released in the same year. I'm loving their lead single and hope the rest of the album follows their original hard rock style as I wasn't really feeling the more chilled take on things on their last album.

My favourite song of all time from them could well be Cold Blooded:

I love the bluesy, sleazy, 70's rock sound to it all and that guitar solo at the end takes me places. That entire EP is amazing. I think the 3 songs on it are their best ever and it was a shame that they didn't put it on an actual album. I'm always worried this band might break up as they obviously don't get major commercial success and take so long between albums. A lot of bands don't last as long as a decade, so it's impressive they're still together after all this time. So many thought Taylor just did this because she was a wild child wanting to rebel but she obviously passionately believes this is for her to still keep at it even when it doesn't bring major success.

In terms of modern day rock music they've performed pretty well on the rock charts and their tours seem to do well.

Hardly anyone in rock is getting rich these days.

I think Taylor sums up her attitude pretty well in "Death by Rock and Roll."
