Hmm I guess so. But just reading the description of it, it's more about a transvestite man or more like just a man who dresses as a woman to committ those crimes, doesn't really say he enjoys dressing up as a woman or that the story is about a transgender person. Anyway, JK Rowling KNOWS what she's doing and she's loving all of this drama, I'm sure.

I mean she doesn't say it but she's made her views clear, and her making a book about a MAN in WOMEN's clothing is like rubbing salt in

People judging a woman without reading her essay. People judging a book without reading it. People judging a film without seeing it... Social media really is the day & age of stupidity. I guess we deserved Trump at the head of the free world.

If you're this blind and still defends this POS, then it's YOU who deserves Trump.

Is she not allowed her own opinions though? Does her opinions or personal beliefs mean she should be “cancelled”. I don’t think she should. I disagree with her opinions but I love her works, is that a bad thing?

People wouldn't be asking the same question if this was about race. It's not an opinion if it's harmful to a community.

It’s an opinion regardless, opinions DO hurt others sometimes, that’s just the way it is unfortunately but it is still her opinion, whether others agree or not

give her a break, I'm LGBTQ supporter IRL and I say she's not a transphobe

Well, I am one of the Gs in that LGBTQ IRL and I say she is indeed a transphobe. I'm assuming when you said you're a supporter, you meant ally? Cuz if you are, you have no right to tell what's transphobic or not cuz you're not a part of that community.

I mean, she has been articulate on her viewpoints. And she's said that she has trans friends.

But her insistence on challenging trans experiences is just disgusting. I can't imagine how she could have any trans friends anymore.
To top it all off, this book (that she really didn't need to publish as she sits on a Harry Potter fortune) seems very pointed. Her and her team would have recognized the slippery slope.

There's just no denying it...

Sometimes, people shouldn't be cancelled. But she should. She's cancelling herself :madge:

Exactly, like can she just let it go and stop having a twitter war with herself

it's like she doesn't know that Twitter is the toilet of the internet :awkney:

Yea, she is dead, but somehow she still has n books on the best sellers list. :trollga:

I dont agree with what she said. I wont buy any of her new books, but things like this dont work. They actually have the opposite effect.

I get so triggered by her comment 'Yeah I have trans friends'.

f.u. b.ectch, that's in no way an excuse to still make transphobic remarks, it's the same when people say 'I have black friends'.

Thank you to the gays/allies who support trans rights just as they support their own. We’re all in this together!! :bradley:

There is no Gay movement if there is no Trans movements. Gays who don’t include trans people in their fights aren’t making any progress at this point.

Actually I know 2 gays that not support gender changing and I understand them. It is a 2 completly different things. They just tolerate it but not agree with them.
edit:
"Toleration is the allowing, permitting, or acceptance of an action, idea, object, or person which one dislikes or disagrees with."

Yet you don't find it suspicious at all that the plot of her next book stars a cis man who dresses up as a woman to kill women?

It's all just too cute by half. I'm not even going to get into the "coincidence" that is her pen name Robert Galbraith

To say that she "loves trans people as much as the next person" is intellectually dishonest. Her words have been consistently hurtful. The trans and queer community has TOLD HER she's hurt us. Yet she keeps doing this. Stab after stab after stab; she continues to hurt us.

In the words of someone who does more for women than JK:

The interpretation of her words is what hurt people, that's undeniable. But she shouldn't compromise her views just because the media stirred drama and made her seem like a villain. At the end of the day, what she's willing to avoid is abuse towards queer kids and I really don't see what's wrong with that. At no point did she assert trans people weren't people.

I suggest you read her essay and not Twitter headlines. Like I've repeatedly said, I don't agree with some of her points, but I think it comes from a place of love and she raises valid questions. Her entire work and philanthropy towards children protection and constant fight against bigotry should be enough to get what kind of a woman she is, but leave it to social media to seemingly destroy someone in a second. But cancel me too, I don't care, I'll be in good company. I think it's vastly preposterous of people to assume we know everything about gender dynamics, and that's not a debate to be had on Twitter for very obvious reasons.

Pennywise

The length some of y'all go to defend a woman who is trying to marginalize trans people who are already marginalized to the point where their MURDER often goes un-investigated...

She can THINK whatever the **** she wants. She can be as articulate as she wants. She can write the best essays ever. In fact, I think her writing IS very articulate. Her transphobic essay was actually very well written. This does not change the fact that she is still a transphobic piece of ****.

Transphobia with fancy words and demagogy is still transphobia.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.
