So apparently Lady gaga follows this artist who drew Brooke shields when she was underage in a playboy book? Why does she follow him? It's near the end when it is talked about.

She probably doesn't do intricate background checks on everyone she meets.

I'm not trying to smear or hate on her, I was asking a genuine question, I'm one of her biggest fans.

I think she followed him in the ARTPOP era @Doot when she wasn't in her best headspace.

She still follows him, looking at his Twitter now.

He's an artist sort of like Warhol in that he appropriates the imagery of pop culture and the work of other artists into his own. He lived in NYC for 25+ years too. Maybe one or both of those things were enough to intrigue her, in a scholarly way about his pop/art work?

I can't figure out a verifiable connection between them otherwise.

I know about him, I just want to know why he drew that image, I get it's probably a bad side pop culture thing, at least I hope it is. If you watch the entire video it's disturbing what Sandra went through, her mother is a pos.

Gaga follows 121k people on Twitter cause they used to run her account through follow spree sites, she's not gonna know everyone she follows. This would be more incriminating if it was Instagram where her follow list is really selective.

There's a lot of telephone going on here. I mean, Richard Prince is a hack (which is probably why Gaga likes him lol) but he didn't photograph Brooke for Playboy. He displayed one of the photos years later as commentary on American society (calling it "Spiritual America"). The result was gallery goers felt complicit in the aforementioned lawsuit. Later he displayed a photograph of Brooke as an adult in the same pose, which kind of redeems everything and shows her... consent... ??? idk it's hard to say.

It took me 2 seconds to google this, I recommend everyone do the same.

I know he didn't photograph her when she was underage, yeah I googled it, the photo is disgusting. Art isn't pretty sometimes.

The video/post is very misleading (not accusing OP of doing it on purpose).

As Mauvais said, Richard Prince is a lot more than the "dude who used a creepy photo (which he didn't even take) in a piece of art." His art is exhibited at MOMA, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, etc. The Guggenheim had a show devoted to him. He's arguably one of the most famous contemporary artists alive. Christies and Gagosian sell his work for a LOT of money.

It's possible Gaga was unaware or didn't even follow him (it could have been her assistant). It's possible she was aware and doesn't care.

The piece he did that included the Garry Gross photo of Brooke (which he didn't take himself) was done in the 80s & wasn't meant to "sexualize" Brooke so much as be a commentary on sexuality.  I don't agree with it at all & consider it disgusting, but art can be controversial. Furthermore, Richard himself has never been accused of anything inappropriate (unlike Terry) & the Brooke piece from the 80s is the only piece he has that crosses the line imo.

Aren't most people following just anyone on social media just based on a post, an interaction, or following them back to be polite? I only follow a few people but when I see other accounts, it's the impression I get.

This. Who even does full background checks on people? And the bigger question is why should they? Following someone isn’t full endorsement of their entire existence.
