But it just doesn’t fit the theme of Chromatica. It’s really a basic club track with sex metaphors. :laughga:

It's her most personal album and It fits because it's a female anthem. The ladies understand why it's on there.

This! It toys with how women and their femininity are perceived in popular culture and the expectations around them and how women have to conform themselves to society's standards. How they're expected to be either too nice or else they're called a b*tch

Gaga's explanation for it is genius! :tony:

"I resent that women are often expected to always be sweet or we're called b*tches. This song is an analog for that sentiment , and a polite middle finger"

Besides the whole juxtaposition of Gaga (badass punk pop imagery, sour) with Blankpink (sweet, saccharine bubblegum pop, candy) is just MIND = BLOWN

@Twitter it definitely has a purpose on the album, listen closely my friend. Any song with a purpose on any album that makes a strong statement and has an underlying message is NOT a filler ;)

Thankyou for explaining it so well. :tony:

I wouldn't like Babylon even if I didn't knew a superior version existed  :ohwell:

I love the lyrics but the production does nothing for me, it feels empty and far too tame. Those lyrics and that song needs some banging beats and some banging bass.

The way this thread completely backfired, just like every other Twitter thread

sillynate

At 2 minutes and 37 seconds it’s barely a song let alone a skip :selena: why even skip it? You blink and it’s over

I’m kidding  I’m actually very impressed that it’s such a good and unique short song

It didn’t backfire at all. :laughga: Some people agree and some disagree.

Have you tried wiping your mental slate clean by forgetting that the other version exists and you find it better? Maybe that's a prominent source of bias?

Anyway, the album version makes perfect sense to me because it feels like a true celebration. It sounds like she went to the happiest corner possible in her mind after all the healing that preceded it, and with all this utopian imagery, a perfect place, made a song out of it. It's breathtakingly gorgeous! Top tier for me!

Idk if you've watched this video but this helped me like the song even more than I did before! The production is stunning and everything works!

Besides, I never liked the loud, grating, noisy HL production and still like the album version better. I said what I said :cyanlights:

If you still don't like it. Well, to each their own :huntyga:
