It's more what the music represents to me. Then mainstream stuff, anyway. It's not so much about your deep down emotions or experiences, just neutrality and paint by numbers songs about love. It doesn't move me as most of it doesn't come from a genuine place. Oh, and a real lack of actual lyrics, sometimes it's just as little as one verse/chorus in the whole song. How that This Is What You Came For song became so big on the nothingness of those lyrics that anyone could have written in a couple of minutes is a tragedy. The fact there's actual lyric videos for it is quite funny!

I can't speak to the mainstream stuff as I don't gravitate to that, but check out a song called This Is What It Feels Like, a song that was written about having cancer.

I actually wouldn't have known that's what the song was about if you hadn't told me, just sounds like a generic song about break up. Some of Avicii's stuff was ok but he was about some of the few that I could stomach. What I'm amazed by is how long some of these songs have longevity in terms of people going back to them. I mean, this Cold Water song, to me, that lived and died in summer 2016. Who still cares about this generic, of-the-moment song years later to give it this amount of streams up to the present day?

I don't like Cold Water so I can't speak to that.
