How can you say this when producers give some artists their biggest hits If anything, a lot of producers are more talented than the singers they work with. JusKeepBreathin 19,311
Spotify should just remove their music from it's platform so they can see how important they are to the artists. It's not like they are selling music like Adele or Taylor. I'm talking about those electronic music producers who make a name for themselves by featuring the vocals of an actual singer. Calvin Harris, Diplo, Marshmello, The Chainsmokers, all those people. There's the occasional time they might sing if they're so inclined, but they rely on talented singers to carry the tune. I don't regard them as artists in the way that full-on singers are and they don't have loyal fanbases or even really have fans at all, just people who like chart music and only listen to generic "hits." They are full on artists. They’re the ones that make the music, the melodies. They write the song and shape it. The singer is a small part of it and does what the producer wants. That’s why when Zedd wanted a singer for The Middle he sent out the track to a bunch of singers and had them all do it and picked the one he liked the most. TimisaMonster 31,073
If I was Spotify seeing artists like Drake and Diplo do this I wouldn't be giving them anymore...they get picture frames... But their whole aim is to make a generic hit, a product. There's no desire to be truly artistic or creative. They're just in it for the money and clout. mucinex 4,260
Spotify pays artists fractions of cents per stream, so if an artist chooses to eat off of their Spotify plaque, let them have that! I know that Diplo is an insanely popular producer regardless of Spotify streams, but him eating off of his Spotify plaque very much feeds into my narrative of hating Spotify, so I enjoy it. They still put out full albums with more experimental material.

The only somewhat exception I'd make would be David Guetta's Listen album, which still wasn't experimental in the true sense of the word but experimental enough for a mainstream electro music producer.
