Gaga, Raven and Detox (drag queens)

Most people choose an extreme with Lady Gaga, they either love her or hate her. I can understand not appreciating Gaga for those reasons given, but they should have moved on from it by now, if they are still raving on about Gaga. Gaga makes mistakes like the rest of us humans.

idk about Raven and Detox, but I heard Bob the Drag Queen shade Gaga once saying that she 'stole from drag queens' and I was like ????????? How ignorant and entitled should you be to think that she stole from drag, when in fact Drag as an art form is not only deeply inspired, but BASED and CREATED from WOMEN in fashion and pop culture just like Gaga. if anyone is stealing here, it's drag queens from fashion statements made by WOMEN, know your history (i'm not saying they are, i'm just following his reasoning).

Or did she mean that Gaga isn't entitled to do drag? why would that be? because she's a cis woman? Grace Jones wasn't entitled either? It smells mysoginistic.

And not to mention that literally every drag queen dressed up as Gaga back in 2008-2011.

There's also the fact that Gaga was directly in the scene in her early career... she never just appropriated drag/LGBT culture cause it was cool, but because she herself is a bisexual woman and was always in the scene... saying she steals from drag queens is like saying Michelle Visage steals from drag queens...

Stop being so pressed, I LOVE drag queens and think they deserve 100% respect that every other entertainer has. But i was speaking about how some men speak/treat other women, this conversation came up about how some gay men feel they can comment on women's appearance but its clear some of you aren't ready to have that conversation.

Tea. if anything she brought the art of DRAG and fashion into the forefront in a culture where it was all seen as superficial and dumb (the 00s). You can even say that every other main pop girl in the early 10s did Drag in their own way without even knowing, to emulate the trends that Gaga set. She did SO much for the lgbt community and the art of drag. i even geniunly and un-biasedly think that if it wasn't for Gaga's impact, Drag Race would've had a much harder time having success. it was a cultural shift in many ways.

Honestly who cares for them lol, they are just being bitter gays who like being dramatic. Gaga is friends with lots of other more talented queens such as shangela, alaska, aquaria etc etc. It probably makes them feel more important to be bitchy to a big celebrity who is part of that scene

Also another thing, detox and raven are probably used to being in a position of power within that enviroment, ie they can tell people what to do and treat others as beneath them because of their celebrity, so ofcourse they would have felt threatened when someone with actual power who is way above them was there, they probably felt threatened to not be the most important people in the club

I mean, think about it. These are drag queens that perform for about 20-30 people a night, and getting ready takes hours. They’re not going to be all happy go lucky when a big name star takes over their venue and dressing room, and does not accommodate or compensate them accordingly.

nono, those were literally his words. if i could find the link i'd put it here. it was on one of the DragCon political panels a few years ago and he was just talking about popstars or smthing and when he said the name Gaga, he made a parenthesis to quickly say something like 'who btw stole from drag queens since the beginning of her career' and moved on to the next popstar. So ignorant. I don't know if he still thinks that tho, but i was shook, since i agree with him on almost everything and he's like the most intelligent drag race girl ever

Ive just watched the video your referring to and Bob was talking about how Sia had stole the living dress from Nina west, he mentions Gaga twice but doesn't say anything negative.
