The mistake i think gaga is making

I find it nice that people are defending Gaga but... no one attacked her. @RenegAde didn’t mean to be mean to her, or diminish her work or herself personally. They are only giving their true and honest opinion on a performance, and we can’t always 100% like something from our fav.

we should feel safe, as fans, to be able to talk about Gaga’s work, to criticise and give our opinion, even when they happen to be unpopular, without being treated as ungrateful or rude or like it’s only complaints.

The author of the thread isn’t being disrespectful to Gaga or her work, they are only giving their honest opinion about it, which is free to anyone to agree with or not, but please, let’s just discuss and debate, instead of being shady or feeling like people are attacking Gaga just because they thought she could’ve done something different or better. It doesn’t mean it/she was bad, but that she already showed us that she can do better.

Yes, she offered us the very first performance of this era, which we’ve been waiting for so long, yes she made this in the middle of a pandemic and it’s already huge. But it doesn’t mean we can’t be critical about some things.

It’s good to be loyal to your fav artist, but it’s also good to try to have an objective point of you about the artistic choices sometimes, which doesn’t mean you are dragging them or their whole work. It’s okay to disagree.

Most of you who are disagreeing with RenegAde are coming for them like they bashed Gaga, it’s a bit too extra imo. Chill. You can argue with an opinion, that’s totally fine, but let’s do it with respect and objectivity, without being like « oh you’re wrong she is perfect you are so ungrateful never say what she does is bad that’s so unfair it is in the middle of a pandemic what are u expecting she isn’t Jesus »

No one said it had to be perfect. But, again, we can be critical sometimes. And we still love Gaga.

While i think the performance is good  and it definitely has some praise worthy qualities like gaga's 1000% stage presence /energy and her ever amazing live vocals, i feel conflicted about the performance personally . I find myself unable to watch it twice . Even tho it was probably the best of the vma night .

I would have agreed with you on some parts of it, but I can't help but re-watch it at least once a day. But it is okay to share your opinion :D

Thank you very much  ,

im actually very open to changing my opinion , Infact some users have made me rethink some of the opinions i have about the performance . I dont just understand where the "ungrateful" part is coming from ,this thread is between us little monsters, its not on instagram or twitter were mean people will take advantage of it to diss gaga so why are people being passive agressive even if i have tried to clarify what i meant over and over again.

i mean, even if the performance wasnt my best i was really excited seeing the views increase and watching people praise her ! Im happy she is winning regardless of my thoughts on it and i will stay up till 2am just watch her perform again so im definitley not hating on her

I  started to feel really bad for creating this thread actually . But i checked myself . I am used to the passive aggression on gagadaily  as i too can be guilty of it:bear: .so i kinda  understand where the rude comments are coming from , im just not going to condone it.

The VMA lighting was dull and dissapointing for me apart from stupud love . The stage design was basically non existent and it was pretty much devoid of the gaga stunts we all love like changing outfits right before your eyes and jumping from rooftops .

1. Well. The VMA show was NOT a Lady Gaga concert, not really. ;)

Her segment was 9 minutes out of a 2-HOUR show. There were BUDGET and TIME constraints, thus the INSTANT costume change!

2. The VMA show was NOT the Super Bowl halftime show either, which had 20 TIMES (!) more viewers, a 20x (?) higher BUDGET, and featured exactly ONE performer - Lady Gaga.

You're comparing the VMAs to the Super Bowl?? Now that's a mistake. ;)

3. What Gaga did early on in her career - the 2009 VMAs (Paparazzi), etc. - was PERFORM MUSICAL THEATER on a music awards show... She was a theater kid!

What's so shocking (or tasteless) about bleeding to death on stage, or emerging from an egg, if it were a BROADWAY SHOW? Not that original, either.

She was in her 20s - her SHOCK and AWE era. She was DESPERATE for attention and fame. The meat dress??

She's now 34! That era was long gone, thank God. :ladyhaha:

4. I thought her VMAs performance was amazing. 911 was surprisingly good, loved the choreography and she looked great. Loved the piano bit. She's such a show off.

You may not love it, but the CRITICS sure did. What does that tell you?? ;)

Gaga has grown up and moved on, even if you haven't. Simple as that.

As it pertains to the set design, TMB was pretty sparse as well. They were some hollow vertical structures with stairs up and down them. That’s regarded as one of her best shows. I actually find the set design to be incredible and very classically theater whereby you build the bones of something and the audience has to fill it in with their imagination and a performer needs to give it authenticity. I think Gaga tends to flourish in these types of sets while getting drowned out in the super complex ones like the BTWB castle.

You're wasting your time. He probably got tons of warning points for his OP too. Opinions should only be praise.

People are allowed to have different opinions as long as they aren't overly negative in a way that can upset others or provoke them into saying mean things. We want civilised discussions, not arguments.

I think it was good and creative. Nothing I would watch several times though. I’m fine with Gaga focusing more on the vocals. It was the best performance of the night. I did like Miley’s visuals better but Gaga PERFORMED.

gaga has turned up the amp on her vocals in the past few years, and has turned down the visuals. But I thought this performance was more of a concept Visually than she has had in a while. I don’t have anything really to complain about. I will say i do not like what the choreographer has done so far with Chromatica. Lots of Arm, hand and upper body movements, and not much lower body. I’m starting to think this might have something to do with Gaga’s hip injury.
