Tyler Joseph (TØP) dragged for mocking BLM messaging campaign

i actually couldn't care less about their opinion, if they don't want to talk about it, then leave them alone, they always hage been a quiet, no-drama band

i accidentaly hit send lol / i know this sounds kinda dumb but you can't force someone to expose/express themselves like that, especially someone with me ta issues as tyler

also is kind of the same which happened with taylor swift, people started cancelling her bc jot apeaking about politics and months then she was forced to speak about it

but now, hos response, the photo he posted about his platforms, now that's kinda offensive bc feels like hos mocking the situation and that's SO not great, he should apologize for that

i remember when he didn't want to talk about how he feels about gender/lgbt and he just stood quiet about it, then asked for forgiveness bc he's still learning and embracing some things but then he opened up to it and even used a gay flag at a show! that's a really mature attitude

... and now i just sit in silence.

i get it but like why should you be forced to talk about something you don’t want to tho. many artists only spoke about it because they felt they were obligated and imo that’s horrible lmao, people should speak out because they truly believe in something, not because some twitter stans or even their fans are telling them to.

there’s something completely wrong with that and specially when everyone is so extreme on everything. BLM (or what it’s left from it), it’s become simple marketing and a political move to favor/disfavor democrats (depending on who you ask), at least that’s what the media has achieved to do and it really gets me how yall still fall for it. it’s sad yes, but that simply shows how little voice black people actually have in the us. dems are using them for their political agenda, if they win in november, they’ll instantly forget about BLM and y’all already know about that.

however of course you can address racism and police brutality without mentioning BLM or any political party, and that’s what *ideally* should be done if you don’t support or agree with the BLM movement.

back to the topic... if i were him i would’ve stayed quiet, it was still insensitive and very very unnecessary. but don’t force people to talk about something they don’t want to talk about! yall want genuine support or not?

THIS, nowadays it just feels like one marketing scheme for public image.

Yet despite that both candidates have made racist comments recently. So much for waking up.

I wouldn't really consider Biden's comments as racist... especially since one of the main reasons he is the nominee is because African Americans voted for him in droves and he was endorsed by multiple Black pastors

They're asking him to use his platform to speak up for BLM. He doesn't have too. But he also doesn't have to mock them. People saying that it's white people getting mad are full of it.

POC fans have been asking him for months to use his 'platform' to speak up about BLM cuz he stayed silent about it. He instead made that stupid platform joke.

People cancelling him over a tone deaf and insensitive tweet was a bit too much, but it's alright to call him out. Him 'not doing anything wrong' is bs.

But the question is. Does he HAVE TO and do those people have any rights to request him to do so? No? Then why the outrage?  He didn’t mock the movement itself, he mocked people requesting him to do something. Celebrities are not there to please your wishes. If he doesn’t want to be vocal about something then it’s his right. I wish everyone spoke up about this but it’s not possible.

They’re his fans some of which are POC, not random people. He’s not obligated to speak on any issue but he also shouldn’t make an insensitive post about it and then try to make it about his mental health. As a fan I couldn’t care less if he spoke about it or not but what he did was unnecessary. Period.

What he did is call out people who harass him daily about sharing stuff on his personal account without making fun of the movement itself. I think people are overreacting.

I get that, but if he doesn't really have anything to say, why the mockery? I don't see anything wrong with asking the person you look up to with a huge platform to speak up about the movement. If he doesn't want to, he could've just stfu and didn't tweet that stupid joke anyway.

I don't know, I guess I'm just wasting my time explaining this to someone with closed ears.

But the mockery is directed to people harassing him, not the movement. I can’t even imagine people constantly spamming you with something and making you speak up about something you (for whatever reason) don’t want to speak about. Maybe that’s the way he’s dealing with stuff and indirectly telling people to f off. Who’s to say? I see your point and I completely understand what you’re saying but I honestly feel like they just waited for him to do anything to mock him. If he made a statement about BLM that sounded uninterested then people would drag him anyways for it sounding that way or for him being so late so this is a loss/loss situation imo.

ALSO the fact that people are taking their time to trend his name but not BLM movement is good enough proof that this is clearly more about need to cancel someone than to share info about the movement itself. Shame. The fact that people don’t see the hypocrisy in their life is tragic.
