The VMA's just don't makes sense anymore. IMO. But I actually like the pre-taped without an audience format better than the live show for some reason this year. It felt very social media. Everyone one of the performers has two or three moments in the performances that translates so well to the quickness of social media and will cause people to stop and look at the post. Especially Miley. They really put alot of thought into making it translate into social media for her.

Yes, I liked the show, 2 hours is enough for awards shows.

Just to clarify the numbers:

4.9M from last year was for the main show (simulcast). And the 6.8 is for the "linear audience".

As the article said: "On-air numbers for the main show weren’t immediately available". Maybe tomorrow we will know the numbers just for the main show.

According to Wiki Madonna has 20 VMAs, while Gaga has 18 :pole:

I know Madonna had 20 and the most but I wasn't sure where Gaga was exactly

But I know she was close cuz in 2010 alone she won a sh*t load for bad romance and she won a few more other years and then this year she won quite a few again so I figured she couldn't be that far behind Madonna

This ratings things is giving me a headache, I'm just gonna focus on the fact that Gaga slayed and created a major buzz, that's good enough for me

“Arguably this star of the show this year was Lady Gaga, who sported a spectacular array of outfits and and even more striking masks. Gaga won a whopping five awards all told, including the first ever Tricon award, which honors stars who are true triple-threats.“

Did the party room just see that?

Last year it was 1.9 not 4.9.

1.9 just for MTV Channel.

4.9 simulcast

6.8M (linear audience)

I just found this article wich makes sense:

"Yes, the total minutes meter spin rigth off on Sunday. Not only will the TMC tally quickly become a humongous number, it will be not directly comparable to what has been reported in the past. An MTV insider told The Wrap, the company has compiled TMC for the 2019 VMAs, and that will be shared with reporters in Monday's media release. (that's why the 6.8M weren't published last year).

Yes. 1.9 MTV and 4.9 simulcast.

The 6.8M is for "Total Linear Audience", it is a new method that MTV started using this year.

I think it's weird that the show wasn't officially streamed on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook or their own website. When I logged in to my friend's TV provider I would've had to wait 3 hours to watch because I'm on the west coast. Like when are networks gonna adapt? Put your crap online and easy to access so you can get more eyeballs on your content and collect that ad revenue!

I have to say that the VMAs this year did appear to be of a much higher standard. The performances, visuals, attendees (Gaga lmao), award recipients :mark:. It just seemed less trashy compared to previous years.
