monstertoronto 9,084 Posted August 31, 2020 Share Posted August 31, 2020 The Tricon seems like an “elevated” version of the Vanguard. It’s not just video related, it expands what they are rewarding. It seems to me that if they gave both out, the Vanguard recipient would seem lesser compared to the multi-discipline winner of the Tricon. But I suppose they could just make it very specific that the vanguard is for lifetime accomplishments in video production and Tricon is about lifetime accomplishments in three categories. They may not give the Tricon every year if there isn’t a truly worthy recipient every year and in those off years then just give a vanguard? The TRICON award is given to someone who is 1 - a singer, 2 - an actor/actress and 3 - a philanthropist. I feel the Tricon means more and the Vanguard just felt like a token after it was given out 294728828 times.
