Beyoncé was not the hottest artists during that time. Outside of Single Ladies and Diva, Telephone collab is actually what put Beyoncé back on the map. Similar to Gaga doing Shallow. ♥ Kindness Police.

Gaga could’ve really snatched a No. 1 by herself. Then any artist could’ve featured as a remix later or be a bonus track on ARTPOP.

It just fit perfectly with the R&B/exotic vibe. The solo version doesn't hit as hard, and I think the Xtina version is awful

Remember Sasha Fierce was an era she dragged for 3-4 years. Which is a factor to why 4 album tanked.

socotra 3,310
LoveGame - super sexual song, very easily could've gone awry on radio as just her 3rd single; Starstruck w Flo Rida (who was huge at the time) seems like a much safer hit Venus - ik they switched it, but who thought it was originally a good idea for a single?? Perfect Illusion - i love the ballsiness of this song, but as the LEAD?

Many Black male artists vocals blend well with pop/soul/R&B sound songs. Plus the song had a sexual metaphor, so of course I can see artists like R Kelly, Trey Songz, Usher, Chris Brown, and maybe The Weeknd hop on the track. It’s just RK was a poor choice.
